#lazyWeb having just discovered that my netbook has a curved keyboard due to the spicy battery in it, I'm going to be looking for a new *light* laptop. It needs to run Linux, and be powerful enough to code on but small enough to carry easily. A native HDMI port would be nice but not essential #linux #netbook #laptops

It would be even harder to enforce a no kill license, most of the military users of my software would claim they were using it defensively and it would be impossible for me to check, even with friendly nations like Germany, Finland and the UK. With hostile nations like North Korea I don't think I'll ever find out how they use it. 1/n

@feff I've been using Linux as my desktop for the best part of 30 years, mixed in with Solaris for a while. It really is never an issue for me but all I do is program, write reports and papers, listen to music and watch videos. Currently, I'm stuck using windows as my work desktop, though we do most of our work using wsl on a virtual azure windows box. That way we can install software that we need without having to raise a ticket with central IT services and waiting a week.

@monkeyninja the biggest problem I've ever faced was when I lived in the States and my doctor changed and the new one decided for me that I shouldn't be taking opioids everyday as it would make me an addict! Despite the previous 10 years of evidence to the contrary. It easy to see how people end up being accused of doctor shopping or buying on the street.

@RickiTarr various strengths of paracetamol, nsaid, nerve blockers and opioids. Apparently, the only other option is anaesthetic one I'm not on and he won't prescribe it for me 😔. I'm trying to achieve a low enough pain level to be able to add light exercise but currently that's tricky most days.
