@cyberquixote@infosec.exchange @da_667@infosec.exchange I think the "if ur trying to make money" part is a bigger, greyer conditional than can be addressed here. There are many methods and goals when it comes to trying to make money.

@0x00string@infosec.exchange @Sempf@infosec.exchange @neurovagrant@masto.deoan.org It had to do with the generic pejorative of "clanker" and the parallel with other slurs. I didn't quite get it but the person that told me is someone I know and respect so I'm trying to keep it in mind.

We have revoked the previous signing key and added safeguards to prevent similar issues in the future.
As we know, slop jockeys love their "safeguards" and "guardrails". I'm sure it's fine.

@da_667@infosec.exchange @krypt3ia@infosec.exchange I've been pushing young people to at least consider the trades instead. I know not everyone can be a plumber or electrician or welder, but those jobs will outlive whatever computer bullshit we're doing now. And the current wave of trades workers are retiring faster than they can be replaced. Unlike the "talent shortage" bullshit touted in IT and INFOSEC.

@krypt3ia@infosec.exchange For sure. It's still interesting from the outside every year to see a few more grey hairs while they're afraid of being made obsolete rather than bringing in a new wave of "hackers" or whatever crowd it is they're looking for these days.

As someone who has never been to Hacker Summer Camp because fuck the desert, especially in August, it's been interesting to see the takeaways change over the years. It used to be 0day and new techniques and cool projects. Now it's marketing and where to find Gatorade and which insoles are the best for back pain.
I don't have a point, just an observation.

I'm all for places banning the pervert glasses, and even implementing some countermeasures, but I'm curious how long it will be before someone accidentally blinds a bunch of people by running some IR strobes on a pseudorandom pulse at too high of an output in an attempt to fuck with the cameras.
