Manche Updates bringen neue Funktionen. Dieses hier bringt vor allem eines zurück, das ihr längst vergessen hattet: Werbung. 🫠 Denn mit dem Aus für Manifest V2 verschwindet der klassische uBlock Origin endgültig aus dem Edge-Browser. @len@nyan.network Mixed news: I use #Blokada, which does DNS filtering for the entire device (not just the browser) using the #Android VPN mechanism. Normally, if I use YouTube at all, I do it either in Firefox with uBlock Origin or in NewPipe. Disappointingly, if I experimentally open the YouTube app, I still see an advert. Google must be working around DNS-level ad-blockers by, for example, downloading content and adverts from the same domain. On the bright side, if I tap on an advert, the YouTube app tries to use #Firefox to open it, and #uBlockOrigin blocks that access. So it's not a complete solution, but changing the default browser to Firefox and installing uBlock Origin may be enough to keep your relative safe. Good luck! I've been in a similar situation to yours and I know how hard it is to protect elderly relatives from an adversarial technology ecosystem.

Tonight I saw a single ad when I pressed play on a YouTube video. uBlock Origin is still running in Firefox. Not sure what happened there that allowed an ad to slip through. The fight between viewers and Google/YouTube has ratcheted up a notch. #uBlockOrigin #Ads #YouTube

tis evil shit like this that only reinforces my determination never to run an unhardened profile as my main browser, eg for years i have Service Workers disabled via my user.js, & javascript disabled globally in my uBlockOrigin advanced settings, allowed only on a per-site manual basis https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/malicious-sites-use-javascript-to-build-malware-in-browser-memory/ sigh, so many bastards about 🥺 PS-1: all you chrome / chromium users, now without uBO; what on earth are you thinking? 🤷🙄🤦‍♀️ PS-2: i know this article pertains to attacks on silly crypto-shitheads, but i'm looking at the larger picture; the same attack vector could be applied more broadly, not just for those karmic victims, ha! #DropbearPooterising #LinuxWomen:firefox_nightly:#FirefoxNightly #browsers #userJS #uBlockOrigin

That's it. 🙈 #Vivaldi just updated to a version that no longer supports full #uBlockOrigin. I have way more trust in uBlock's capabilities than in Vivaldi's built-in adblocker. But mainly, I don't want Google to get away with gutting such an important software project for user agency. So I'm saying goodbye to that browser after a really long time. 🥲 I'll defy the Chrome-dominated web a little bit and try out #Firefox as my main browser. But I'm already missing my beloved mouse gestures so so much.

🛡️ uBlock Origin’s Chrome extension has quietly added protections against ClickFix by updating its badware filter list, blocking known sites used to trick users into copying & executing malicious commands. The rules also appear to cover uBlock Origin Lite. 🔒 https://cyberinsider.com/ublock-origin-chrome-extension-now-blocks-known-clickfix-sites/ #uBlockOrigin #Cybersecurity #Malware #ClickFix

Is anyone working to block #PostHog first-party routing on U.S. federal websites? It appears that #UBlockOrigin could do it but it would require a list of custom network filters. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jun/28/government-website-visitor-tracking-surveillance-fears #infosec #eff

First up! Our top tip for everyone starting to care about being tracked online is to install a content blocking extension in their browser, and the best choice is uBlock Origin. Advertisements aren’t just annoying, they are one of the most prevalent attack vectors on the internet. Minimizing the amount of content you are downloading and running makes you much safer, and it speeds up your browsing at the same time! 😄 #AdBlock #uBlockOrigin #Privacy #PrivacyTips #PrivacyGuides
