The Red Bridge in Campbell Town was completed in 1837, the work of convicts. It crosses the Elizabeth River in the North Midlands of Tasmania. #Tasmania #lutruwita #River #bridges #architecture #history #MagicInTheMundane

#TRUMP WAS NEVER HIDING 💎 The first time I heard #DonaldTrump was running for president, I knew what he was. Not because I am politically brilliant. Not because #Tasmania has better intelligence services. Because he was so obviously ignorant, #malicious and downright nasty. The boasting. The #cruelty. The hunger for attention. The #contempt for #truth. The constant need to dominate the room and #punish anyone who would not admire him. I had seen that #kind of man before, both in politics and in spiritual communities around the world. What I could not understand was why so many #Americans could not see it. Then he won. And years later, they chose him again. This video helps explain something deeper. People inside #MAGA were not necessarily asking: “What kind of man is he?” They were asking: “Is he on our side?” “Will he hurt the #people we resent?” “Will he restore the #country we believe we have lost?” “Will he make us feel #powerful again?” Once loyalty becomes identity, character stops mattering. Cruelty becomes #strength. #Ignorance becomes authenticity. Shamelessness becomes #courage. Every warning becomes proof that the leader is threatening the right people. #America did not fail to see Trump because he concealed himself. Trump concealed almost nothing. Many people saw him clearly and decided his ugliness might work on their behalf. That is the part worth understanding. This #video is valuable because it shows how painful it can be to leave once a political movement has become your #family, your meaning, your explanation and your identity. People rarely leave an #illusion because they have been defeated or humiliated. They leave when the #story stops holding together, and someone gives them enough dignity to admit it. https://youtu.be/IWkfowGKv1U?si=n0TMty-zYPPFXIIH #pridemonth #Karma #TrueNature #Awakening #Spirituality #life #AI #journalism #Advertising #LeavingMAGA #Politics #CultDynamics

Off to the Tamar Valley Author's Market today to sell my books. It's a local farmer's market, but they have little themes for the mid-month market. Apparently, there will be at least two writers present. Head a long to Beaconsfield in the extremely unlikely event you read this and live in Northern #Tasmania. #Books #Reading #writing #Bookstodon

For the first time in quite a while I spent time in a dripping wet forest in the pouring rain. Bliss! #Tasmania #lutruwita #Forest #River #Rain #Trees #Ferns

"Australian officials ask fans to respect the privacy of Neil, a 1-ton #seal who respects nothing" "Neil, the only male #elephantSeal to visit Tasmania in years, has commanded an enthralled TikTok following of 1.4 million in part because he acts like kind of a jerk" I mean, I get it. I like Neil now myself But also, I will not try to get a selfie with Neil https://apnews.com/article/neil-elephant-seal-tasmania-australia-dd46ef42400dc85b92c103d5f10718ef #Australia #Tasmania #Wildlife #SeaLife #Nature

Last weekend I went to Liffey Falls with my wife. It's a 45 minute return walk, apparently. We were overtaken by quite a few walkers who passed us again on their way back. It took us nearly 3 hours, but we touched, smelled, listened, and saw a lot of flora. It wasn't really the season for tasting. I'd never seen Candlesnuff Fungus before, so was almost as excited as at the waterfall. #Tasmania #lutruwita #Fungi #Mushtodon #Mushrooms

In Campbell Town, central Tasmania, they have a statue of Elizabeth Furlong. She was part of a farming dynasty that helped introduce Merino sheep to Australia. I like the way the town commemorate socio economic achievement rather than politico military like so many do. And it's good that the woman of the family gets recognition rather than being erased and eclipsed by her male relatives. #Tasmania #lutruwita #Australia #Statue #Equality #Womensrights

After 100 years of copper mining, parts of Tasmania’s King River are "biologically dead." Globally, legacy mine waste has exposed 23 million people to toxic metals. As the demand for minerals for EVs and AI surges, these rivers serve as a stark warning: the cost of mining lasts centuries. Stefan Lovgren reports for #Mongabay. https://mongabay.cc/zuQDr9 #Mining #Tasmania

I've just discovered that today is the last day that The Age newspaper will be printed and available for sale in Tasmania. That's a pity, I remember being able to pick up The Age while travelling in Tassie. I still get the print editions of the weekend Age delivered in Melbourne, as an add-on to my digital subscription. Anyway, I'm pleased to have had one of my articles in the final Tassie edition, in the Traveller section of the Sunday Age today. #Newspaper #Tasmania https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-02-23/nine-newspaper-no-longer-printed-in-tasmania/106375940
