US #NationalParks passes will pay for #Trump July 4 plans Entry fees are going toward a $1.6 million #fireworks display & DC “beautification”, while “donations” will fund a $5 million #helipad at the #WhiteHouse. That money is being spent at the expense of the rest of the #US#park system which has a $24 billion backlog of badly needed #infrastructure repairs & improvements, known as “deferred maintenance.” [tell us again to rake the forests] #GovernmentWaste #law https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2026/06/03/trump-officials-divert-national-park-service-fees-fund-july-4-celebration/?utm_medium=referral_home&utm_source=webview&utm_campaign=rct:0:1:0:20260526;tt_2510:control&no_nav=true

“You must think the American people are extremely stupid. We all know that this country has very negative aspects to its history, along with the positive,” one comment left for the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore said. “We are not little children. We can handle the truths of our history. To hide it from us is deeply disrespectful.” The Trump administration asked National Park visitors to report un-American signage. It backfired By Jimmy Lovrien Duluth News Tribune https://www.duluthnewstribune.com/news/local/the-trump-administration-asked-national-park-visitors-to-report-un-american-signage-it-backfired #NationalParks #Minnesota

Holy crap, remind me to not hit any busy National Park this weekend. Wilderness should not be packed with more people than Times Square, or a Taylor Swift concert, to be optimally experienced. NPS: "Plan ahead for Memorial Day weekend at Zion National Park Visitors should expect heavy traffic, limited parking, shuttle bus lines and long waits as the park enters its busy summer season. Advance planning can help make the trip safer and more enjoyable." https://www.nps.gov/zion/learn/news/2026-05-21-memorial-day-weekend.htm #nationalparks #nps #hiking #wilderness

The Grand Canyon was established as a National Park on this day in 1919. Happy Birthday! Photo made from Yavapai Point along the South Rim. Way too easy! :) https://photos.alex-kunz.com/media/019b5dcd-110c-775e-bdae-4479a6f1df44 #LandscapePhotography #GrandCanyon #NationalParks #OTD #Twilight #Arizona #OnThisDay #ColoradoRiver
