My setup for recording game play tonight: 42" LG C2 OLED TVMSI Claw 8 AI+IVANKY Dock (the Claw is sitting on it) with HDMI out to external capture card, USB for mouse and controller.Ugreen external USB-C video capture card that can do up to 4K at 144hz. Almost zero lag loopback for video to my TV. It's hidden behind the Claw.Lenovo ThinkPad 14s gen 5 running Fedora Linux 44 (Silverblue) with OBS Studio to record game play.El cheapo TMKB M1 mouse. It might be cheap ($29), but it is pretty awesome and performs just as good as the $80+ name brand mice (looking at you Logitech, why are your mice so expensive?)Gamesir Cyclone 2 controller with TMR sticks.Old Microsoft Designer keyboard. It's old, but it's super compact and thin. In general boring enterprise PCs with integrated Intel chipsets are a good bet with Linux. Lenovo for example has plenty of those. A computer year or two old tends work with Linux with less hassle than something that just came out from the factory assembly line. 14/21 #linux #lenovo

Some mainstream PC hardware manufacturers have computers with pre-installed Linux in their catalogs. Dell started this twenty years ago in 2006. Recently Lenovo has taken even more radical steps towards Linux, mainly for economical and customer satisfaction reasons. 11/21 #linux #dell #lenovo

  • AMD CPU
  • USB-C für Laden und Dock
  • zwei externe Bildschirme über USC-C
  • Windows 11 Pro

Gerne #Lenovo oder vergleichbar hochwertig. Ist für die Arbeit, muss einfach laufen, Firma zahlt. Es soll mein Daily Driver sein, ich arbeite immer mit Dock und Bildschirm, aber zur Not muss auch mal ohne gehen.

Linux Mint auf drei unterschiedlichen aktuellen Lenovo ThinkPads, zwei Mal Intel ein Mal AMD und bei allen dreien sind die Farben im Firefox eine Qual. Sieht alles völlig ausgewaschen aus. Mein Lüfterproblem (ständig Vollspeed, dementsprechend laut) habe ich jetzt endlich folgendermaßen in den Griff bekommen: #Thinkfan installieren: apt install thinkfanEine Config Datei für thinkfan erstellen: nano /etc/thinkfan.yamlFolgende Konfiguration für diese Datei:

fans:

  • tpacpi: /proc/acpi/ibm/fan

sensors:

  • hwmon: /sys/class/hwmon name: coretemp indices: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] # Package id 0 + Core 0–3

  • hwmon: /sys/class/hwmon name: nvme indices: [1] # NVMe Composite

Stufe min°C max°C

levels:

  • [0, 0, 50] # Lüfter aus
  • [1, 46, 57] # kaum hörbar
  • [2, 54, 64] # sehr leise
  • [4, 61, 71] # moderat
  • [6, 68, 80] # schnell
  • ["level auto", 77, 32767] # BIOS übernimmt ab 77°CMit sudo thinkfan -n testen, ob thinkfan tut, was es machen soll.Nachdem der Test erfolgreich gelaufen ist, thinkfan dauerhaft aktiviert:

sudo systemctl enable --now thinkfan sudo systemctl status thinkfan Damit kann ich meinen #Lenovo #Thinkpad #T14 jetzt komplett geräuscharm nutzen.

Here's the MATE desktop on top of Artix Linux. It is installed on a ThinkCentre Tiny M700. This is the computer for this week's RetroEdge.Tech Computer Giveaway. One thing that I do not like about MATE (and therefore the old Gnome2) is that there is very little keyboard control of the desktop environment. The 'super' key does not launch the Start Menu. Ctrl+Alt+t does not launch a terminal, et cetera.
