Where to look for a silent Sunday in Vienna? Of course the Central (Main) Cemetery is always an option. Especially the old jewish part is a wonderful place to keep out the modern turbulent world with all the crazy stuff going on. It is a quiet silence between those old tombstones, seldom another person crosses your way. It is you, your thoughts and the history of a city, a society and culture. God give me a moment's grace. 85% of my family lives in the towns that were flooded in West Virginia on Wednesday. While all are safe, many of my family & friends lost their homes and businesses. This is not a wealthy area. These are hard working people. And no one hears about the devastation or cares because it's #WestVirginia My Dad is buried under those flood waters and we still do not know the condition of the #cemetery. He wouldn't care about himself. As a first responder, he would tell us to stop worrying about him and help as many others as we can. So that is what I am doing. 7" in one hour. ☠️ The silent scream! This stone skull that sits in the shade of 200-year-old beech trees; the grave itself is over 150 years old. The skull’s mouth is grotesquely agape in a centuries-long silent scream, resting on a pillow of crossed femur bones. Bright green moss covers the gravestone, accentuating the hollow eye sockets and the tortured grimace of the macabre.
