@lisamelton@mastodon.social "polite society" is a group of people who will let a vile (techbro, transmisic, etc) lie pass without objection, as long as the lie is said serenely then "polite society" will clutch their pearls in shock and horror when someone, who was listening to what the serene silver tongued snake said, says the word "motherfucker" in their rightful rejection of said lie there is a divide here that doesn't get much press, but be aware of it and don't be on the side of "polite society"

@lisamelton It is an unfortunate feature of the English language that most of our best and most powerful curse words turn out to be, in some way, sexist, racist, sex-negative, homophobic, transphobic, or in some other way negative and potentially harmful to unintended targets.
