Picked up an Aqara UWB smart lock. It&#39;s a lot quieter (@octothorpe) than the previous lock. And the walk-up unlocking is aces. It&#39;s Matter compatible and right now, I&#39;m not using Aqara&#39;s app at all and doing all the management in HomeKit. I&#39;m curious how far I&#39;ll get with that. The one thing we lose is the gyro-based auto locking, having to settle for time-based instead. That might convince me to set it up. We&#39;ll see.

One of my finance apps is making me do a cloudflare proof of life on every launch. On my iPad. Where I use biometrics to login to the device and the app. I hope this costs them money every time.

Accidentally heard some opera music earlier. I don&#39;t understand it. I mean, literally, I have no idea what they were singing. But I also don&#39;t understand the appeal of that style of opera singing. I&#39;ve seen a couple of operas and they were obviously in a foreign language (guessing Italian, but it&#39;s been decades...) but, I could hear the words at least.

Silly #homekit automation. I&#39;ve got an Inovelli #matter light switch with a programmable LED. I&#39;ve set it to turn red when the front door is unlocked, and back to green when locked. And it’s already paid off. We&#39;ve been having some work done and had disabled automatic locking for the workers to be able to enter and leave without hassling with the lock. I&#39;ve had this goofy problem with my #unifi kit (original #UDM/white cylinder) where my speed drops from ~900MB to ~80MB while connected to it. I thought it was an #xfinity issue, but if I connect directly to their modem, I see the speeds I&#39;m expecting. Sometimes rebooting the router will clear it up for a little while.
