Alas my original home on Mastodon (toot.community) is closing on 28 October 2026, so I am moving to fak@cupoftea.social. If you were already following me on Mastodon you should migrate automatically, if you are following me on Bluesky you may need to re-follow me at @fak.cupoftea.social.ap.brid.gy (once it's active).

I can confirm that it is faster to complete #parkrun when not dressed as if riding an inflatable dragon. Nicely progressive (the second half being downhill after going up helps) and somehow bagged first lady too. Did the first timer's welcome and had some nice comments about that. #running #RunnersOfMastodon

Studies have found that reports of domestic abuse increase by 26% when England play and win or draw, rising to 38% when England lose. Further research found alcohol-related domestic abuse incidents increased by 47% following an England victory in a major tournament. During Euro 2024, police forces recorded 351 football-related domestic abuse incidents, compared to 193 during Euro 2021. https://hopeafterharm.org.uk/resources/when-the-final-whistle-blows-abuse-doesnt-stop-combatting-domestic-abu...

My 499th #parkrun ticked off in hot weather, still a bit dehydrated from marshalling a race last night. Body wanted to go fast though and I didn't have the energy to rein it in. Also did the first timer's welcome. The big 500 next week! #running #RunnersOfMastodon

Lots of people running London Marathon a few weeks ago were fundraising for charity, but not everyone can afford to donate. If you wanted to help Jordan Adams (with the fridge), let this video run in the background. The ad revenue will go to his foundation, to try and find a cure for FTD, a form of dementia that he has lost over 12 family members to (including his mum) and that he and his younger brother carry the gene for (over 99% chance of developing it) https://youtu.be/URfFYrg-WVI #running

Another chilled half marathon distance on the delightfully flat railway path. Lots of people out doing their last efforts before the Great Bristol runs next week. 53.3 miles (85.79km) for the week. #running #RunnersOfMastodon #Bristol

When we say that transphobes want to eliminate trans and non-binary people from public life, it's not hyperbole, it's backed up by their actions. Threatening legal action against #parkrun a free-to-attend, volunteer-run event which encourages people to move their bodies, and if they can't do that then to get outside and volunteer. All because, why? They have so much hate inside themselves that they can't stand it if a trans or non-binary person completes 5k. https://www.msn.com/e...

It's very odd not to be preparing for London Marathon this evening (after 8 races on the trot), but glad I'm not facing yet another hot year (late April is too late for me and anything over 10° is too hot). Go out slower than you trained for, and hydrate well (if you can carry electrolytes to add, all the better). Take it all in, finishing and not ending up in the medical tent is the aim. #running #LondonMarathon

Ah, personal growth. So far today I have taken apart a single duvet cover, ironed it, and cut out all of the pattern pieces. Sewed a dress bodice and attached the first tier of the skirt. Next step is inserting the zip. I am stopping for the day. Zips are not a thing you do at the end of the day (I have learned). They are something to have first on your list when you are fresh. #sewing

Another glorious run with club. Just about managed to unlock the Summer 8 mile route. It was more the day's torrential rain making the off-road bits slippery than losing the light. Still coming back via the zoo instead of across The Downs. But yay! Summer routes! #running #RunnersOfMastodon

Oh dear. Life of a pro runner. One of the runners I follow has just changed watch sponsor and they have put out a video to showcase it. It's clear the video has been done by the company rather than the runner's usual team. It is 45 minutes (instead of 15-20) and so dull - it's basically just footage of him running in real time with a ticker of time and heart rate (no music). It's so much worse than his usual content, it'll put people off. But they'...

Proud of myself. My interest was piqued by something, so I did some research and educated myself on the topic. I did not, however, post how somebody else was wrong, using my new-found knowledge. I know what's correct, that's enough.

A shitty situation for the women at the US half marathon champs at the weekend. 4 of them led off course by the lead vehicle. Cost them places, prize money, and potentially spots at the World Championships https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/us-track-star-cost-half-234830186.html #athletics

Staying up to wait for the polls to close in Gorton & Denton, hoping for some early good news before going to bed. Really hoping to wake up to a 5th #GreenParty MP and not a 9th Reform one.

RE: https://mastodonapp.uk/@Silversnapples/116091392779343055 If you do find a dead badger in such condition, please contact your local badger group. Do not search for the sett and cub yourself. Setts are protected by law for good reason. Leave it to the professionals https://www.badgertrust.org.uk/report
