Cerco un servizio di hosting adatto (economico, in italia, trasparente, magari anche politicamente affine).Suggerimenti?

Hmm, giving some consideration to switching over to #GoToSocial, and installing it bare metal on my VPS. At the moment this #Mastodon server runs via #Yunohost and the biggest pain in the ass is waiting weeks for them (Yunohost) to update the installers after a major Mastodon upgrade. GTS appears to be a single binary, a database file and a YAML config file, running via one systemd service. That's a lot less complex than Mastodon, with its multiple processes and connections. Not to mention the resource usage. After 10 months of operation, the database on this Masto instance fluctuates between 17Gb and 25Gb. Most of which is account data. The same instance running under GTS as far as I can tell would be sitting at about 3gb at this point. Memory and CPU usage would see similar reductions, which would be beneficial come renewal time and potential massive cost increases... The main thing holding me back is the ability to use Quote Posts. I know it's coming in GTS, but there's no timescale AFAIK. I know I originally had GTS installed prior to switching to Mastodon, but in hindsight I maybe should've stuck with GTS. I mean, Masto's been fine, but perhaps going lower resource would be better longer-term. No rush to decide, as my vps is still 14 months from renewal, but definitely something to consider.

omfg.. My #Yunohost install just deleted my Ghost blog on stux.me including backups after a failed install and restore I can't even.. Why would it delete the backup Gotta think about a way of restoring it somehow..

Hmmm... it looks like @Stuxhost@mstdn.social may fit the bill. https://Stuxhost.com says they're based in the Netherlands 👍 and that you can choose servers in Germany / Finland 👍 and @stux@mstdn.social is here on the Fedi 👍 . (Sidenote, when I've talked to Stux, they've been lovely 👍 👍 ) The only thing I'm wondering about is if there's any easy way to install / upgrade / maintain Mastodon? 🤔 If I need to I can install Yunohost like on my other servers, but I'd really like to avoid having to maintain yet another server for a service that sounds trickier than most to maintain... #Mastodon #Hosting #Selfhosting #StuxHost #Yunohost

Finally! I repurposed an old ThinkPad T400 as a YunoHost server for personal use. I don't have any apps installed yet, but I'm planning on installing GoToSocial and Nextcloud. Wenn ein Dienst auf meinem #yunohost Server (in dem Fall jellyfin) nicht länger als 1 Minute läuft, kann ich hier was einstellen, damit ich benachrichtigt werde? Also eine Art watchdog der mich informiert, wenn der Dienst nicht mehr akurat funktioniert? Ich wäre sehr erfreut, denn zuletzt kam ich zweimal zu spät drauf, dass da was hakte und die backups waren schon wieder gelöscht, weil ich sie nach 30 Tagen automatisiert gelöscht habe...

Today, I updated the documentation for installing a relay (Docker, manual, automatic script). Behind the scenes, I reproduced each installation to adapt and fix the doc. Yes, the official #HolosSocial relay is coming to production after a long 10 months of work. The #YunoHost package will come next. Around 800 users on a relay is a small number of GB, everything is optimised, and it can run on a small VPS. I am quite proud of this work. Thank you for making it possible with your support.

Does anyone know if #yunohost requires port 25 to be open for it to work? Like if you would install Friendica or GoToSocial and want admin mails/notification to be sent from the system? @elena@aseachange.com Do you know?

But this "Danger" Box in the docs, saying the domain will be taken forever by this instance of GTS scares me. Or is this the case for every #ActivityPub Server anyway? I thought, only the full handle like "@user@social.domain.net" can be problematic when being refused because of caching and generated keys. Have setup a server with #YunoHost and really liking it so far. It gives me the #Selfhosting projects that I want that I can manage now that selfhosting is a little burdensome with my version Parkinson's. I was considering downsizing my selfhosting menu because I was afraid of catastrophic loss due to poor digit control of my hands and using the terminal for even the most simple tasks. May soon migrate my Mastodon instance... I have all this bandwidth due to needing business class internet in my home. Hate to waste it, not to mention I have unlimited storage space because due to selfhosted hardware. @yunohost@toot.aquilenet.fr

Now, to do a step-by-step installation guide I need to create a brand new account, so I can document everything.
