The night sky is a time machine. The stars we see today are long-dead stars. When you observe a star 1,000 light-years away, you’re actually seeing it exactly as it was 1,000 years ago. Still beautiful even in their deaths. #Stars #SpecialRelativity #TimeDilation

Good #morning to readers. #Oil #prices are at $72.12 per #barrel (-1% compared to pre-war) For Nader, #Hormuz #island was one of the few places in #Iran where you could wild #camp, #dance under the #stars and almost feel #free. But now it's one of the few places where the #war lives on. https://www.iranwar.news/p/what-happened-to-hormuz-islands-campers

Primeras pruebas, prometo mejorar, filoso filoso #astronomia #astronomy #sun #sol #manchassolares #sunspots #dobles #doublestars #stars #svbony #svbony205 #achromatic #doublet #kasai #kasaiJscope80L #jscope80L #japon #japan #telescope

Orion sitting just above the southern horizon. Taken with my approx. 10 year old compact camera, with a 10 second exposure using a mini tripod manually braced against a garden pergola. #stars #SkyAtNight #photography

When massive stars die, they don’t go quietly. For years, astronomers have been able to watch these stars tear themselves apart in a bright explosion. Now they can also detect something new: radio waves. Read more from Earth.com: https://flip.it/wx3WeC #Science #Space #Stars #SpaceExploration

"I was frightened not only by what darkness concealed but also by what it revealed: not merely individual insignificance but the absence of individuality itself." —Gabriel Furshong for Earth Island Journal https://www.earthisland.org/journal/index.php/magazine/entry/why-dark-skies-matter #Stars #Darkness #Sanctuary
