with the help of claude, I put together an NVDA Addon for enhancing the audio ducking with two new modes. Duck inactive applications lowers the audio of every application that is not currently focused, so the app you are working in stays at full volume. Duck the active application lowers the audio of the application that is currently focused, leaving background audio (for example, music) at full volume. As focus moves between applications, the add-on continually updates which audio sessions are lowered, and it restores every application's original volume when you leave the mode or disable ducking. NVDA's own speech and sounds are never lowered. https://github.com/Glowing-Radiant/enhanced-duck https://github.com/Glowing-Radiant/enhanced-duck/releases #blind #accessibility #nvda

I have another idea to make with Codex, how about a #NVDA add-on that can let you use your cloned voices from ElevenLabs if you have an API key. That would be cool shit, imagine having Howard Stern as a voice for NVDA, or myself or @danestange@caneandable.social, Tony Soprano, or whoever. Except ElevenLabs didn't do good with getting that Italian New Jersey accent. Who would be interested in using it and is there something like that out there already?

I am having a problem signing in to my Ebay account. It keeps asking me to check a checkbox. I do so, and then, it gives me an inaccessible captcha with no audio alternative. I tried this on Windows 7, 10, and 11, with Firefox and Supermium, and nothing changes. I can't even read their accessibility page because it asks me to sign in and sending me back to the captchas! Is there a trustworthy captcha solver that works with NVDA or a way around this? Alternatively, does anyone here know of another site that sells vintage and antique things, or even another ebay replacement in general? I've been with them for over twenty years as a buyer, but if I need to change sites, I will do so. This is ridiculous! #accessibility #blind #captchas #Ebay #Firefox #inaccessibility #NVDA #ScreenReaders #Supermium #technology #Windows7 #Windows10 #Windows 11

Quik accessibility hack for blind NVDA and Signal Desktop users! 🎧💬 Signal developers are great, but the desktop app can be incredibly chatty and overwhelming with NVDA. Instead of waiting for an official fix, I found a workaround all by myself: 1. Create a new configuration profile in NVDA and name it "Signal". 2. Link this profile to trigger automatically only when the Signal app is active. 3. In Object Presentation settings, uncheck "Report dynamic content changes" and progress bars. Result? You can finally breathe and use Signal in peace. It might not be a perfect permanent fix, but it works flawlessly for now! 🛡️✨ #Accessibility #A11y #NVDA #SignalApp #ScreenReader #Blind #TechTips #BlindTech

New free app for my blind and low-vision friends: ElevenLabs TTS Studio — an accessible desktop app for ElevenLabs text-to-speech. Keyboard-first and screen-reader-first: searchable voice picker, generate, play, save, history. Every control announces properly. Bring your own API key. Built by a blind dev, tested with a real screen reader — because accessibility is the point, not an afterthought. https://github.com/tonygeb23/eleven-tts-studio #a11y #accessibility #NVDA #ScreenReader #TTS #OpenSource

US Top News and Analysis | Five 'Magnificent Seven' names will post earnings before the week ends. Levels to watch AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. The article reviews the upcoming earnings reports of the five “Magnificent Seven” megacap growth stocks and examines what their chart patterns suggest for the near‑term market. It notes that the MAGS ETF, which tracks these large‑cap growth names, has rebounded sharply from March lows but has yet to break new highs, hovering near its 200‑day moving average and showing a potential inverse head‑and‑shoulders formation. Relative strength is evident as MAGS has outperformed the S&P 500 in recent weeks, and historic pullbacks have typically been followed by multi‑month rallies that restored the ETF to prior relative highs. Among the individual components, Google (GOOGL) and Nvidia (NVDA) have outperformed the ETF dramatically over the past year, while the other holdings have lagged, dragging overall performance. The piece concludes that a positive earnings response from the lagging stocks, combined with continued strength from the leaders, could revitalize the broader large‑cap growth complex, though investors should watch for overbought conditions and potential price ceilings. I got tired of how mudlet constantly skips things with the built-in screen reader output, because they're using UIA or something. So I made a thing so mudlet can do direct screen reader output the way mushclient does, probably to the horror of @matt@toot.cafe and others: github.com/fastfinge/sral-mudlet But it works. #NVDA and #jaws and probably other things (though I didn't test zdsr and narrator). It builds on Linux, but it doesn't work on Linux because I don't have a Linux machine with speech dispatcher. Note: the C code in sral_bridge.dll is AI generated by perplexity computer, because I'm not comfortable enough with C to do it myself from scratch.

Do you speak another language? Do you wish the #eloquence addon for 64-bit #NVDA (version 2026 and above) was available in that language? Now it can be! Thanks to the hard work of CyrilleB79: • french translation is available (by CyrilleB79) • support for translations was added (also by CyrilleB79) Sadly, as a monolingual person, I'm unfamiliar with the translation workflow. But it works the same way as other NVDA addons. All translation submissions are appreciated, with priority given to the languages eloquence supports. If there are no other changes that need releasing, I will release a new version of the addon every Friday with all available translation updates. You can install the addon via the updater, or find the latest release, along with a file called Eloquence.pot that I believe translators need, here: github.com/fastfinge/eloquence_64/releases/tag/v16 It looks like you need to make a file named nvda.po, then put it in: addon/locale/your_two_letter_language_code/LC_MESSAGES
