Just activated reporting Font attributes in #NVDASR because I needed to hear which text in an HTML file was underlined. Sad that this HTML file is converted from markdown a LLM wrote, which thought it was necessary to put little annoying stars around every 3rd word, so now I hear bold, no bold, bold, no bold, all few seconds. Yippi ya yeah!

NVDA 2026.2 beta 9 available for testing. Changes introduced in Beta 9:

  • Updates to translations
  • Update Braille Reading and Automatic Scroll Rate in User Guide
  • Fixed moving by sentence in Word (alt+downArrow/alt+upArrow).
  • Changed quick access keys for magnifier settings to ensure they are unique

NVDA 2026.2 Beta 8 is now available for testing. Beta 8 includes:

  • Updates to translations
  • Improve magnifier behaviour when using higher DPI scaling
  • Fix magnifier from interfering with opening dictionary dialogs
  • Improve the handling of failing to activate the magnifier
  • Block touch screen input when using the magnifier where possible, as it is not supported yet

In case anyone's interested, now that #NVDASR has moved to 64 bit, we can use py-spy (a sampling profiler) to get performance profiles of NVDA while it's running. I wrote this (admittedly rather crappy) profile viewer web app to make analysing those profiles easier. It lets you switch threads, it sorts the samples by count (highest to lowest), it shows percentages of the total count and it lets you see the inverted stack for each sample (collapsed by default). There's a demo profile in the app if you just want to see what it looks like. There are much better profile viewers of course. py-spy can output Speedscope profiles, but Speedscope isn't screen reader accessible. There's the Firefox profiler for which the call tree is very accessible, but it can't load Speedscope or raw py-spy profiles, and even though it can load chrometrace profiles which py-spy can generate, they don't seem to show the call tree. So this at least makes NVDA profiles accessible to those of us who are screen reader users. https://files.jantrid.net/nvdaProf/
