The problem with the new Apple Watch features isn't just about the technology, it's about the erosion of trust in our society. Even if you don't activate those features on your Apple Watch, even if you wear an older model, and even if you wear a completely different brand of smart watches, people might think you are recording them now. For the same reason I had to carefully choose my new glasses model to make sure they cannot be confused with Meta's Ray-Ban spy glasses, people will now look at your wrists suspiciously. These technologies that record everything around without consent dissolve the base of trust we had for each other. All of our words scrutinize, at all time, in every context. This silences us over time. This makes us feel unsafe. The problem goes well beyond technology itself, and well beyond a technical fix, it has become a cultural problem. One that we need to fix urgently. #Privacy #Consent #MassSurveillance #Trust

Right so, Facebook is all sad because people are calling their "AI" surveillance specs "Pervert Glasses" and it's killing them. It's also establishing the social norm that you don't go around with video recording glasses on your face, you'll be shunned. People think a lot about the output they get from AI tools and chatbots. But they don't think enough about the input they give to the AI tools and chatbots. Your input is very likely collected, tagged, evaluated, shared, and reused. Every word, every image, every line of code, every data points you share with them, knowingly or unknowingly.
