I keep seeing reports of city governments in the USA voting to stop using #Flock, ordering the cameras turned off or covered, and the company initially complying but turning the cameras back on later in defiance of city order. And that is one reason I don't have a problem with people taking hacksaws to the damn things. If Flock won't respect the law, they should not expect others to follow the law regarding them. You don't see this stuff on TV, but the anger is off the chart.

‘DO NOT MENTION #ALPR USAGE’: How #Cops Are Trying to Hide Their Use of #Flock When cops use Flock to arrest someone in #WapelloCounty , #Iowa , they don’t want them to know. A usage policy for the automated license plate reader #cameras in the county tells police, in no uncertain terms, to keep them a secret: “DO NOT MENTION ALPR USAGE TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE,” the policy document reads. “DO NOT MENTION ALPR USAGE IN YOUR REPORT OR COMPLAINT UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.” The police guidance document is unusual in how clearly it tells police not to mention their Flock use, but it also highlights several important things in the Flock debate. 🚨📸 This one's genuinely disturbing.🚨📸 Flock Safety's license plate cameras are in over 6,000 communities, marketed as a crime fighting tool. Turns out at least 50 police officers nationwide have been accused of using it to track women in their personal lives, no warrant needed, in 46 of those cases through Flock specifically. One Georgia police chief ran hundreds of searches on a woman's car over a year, then told her "don't worry I'm not tracking you or some weird stalker shit" when confronted. She said it herself: "He watched every single move I made." The system logs searches, but those logs are usually only checked after a complaint. There's no federal rule requiring a search be tied to an actual case, and policy is left up to roughly 18,000 individual agencies. These folks seem to have tracked down #Flock offices in Atlanta #Georgia that people are not supposed to know about. They give the address in the video: 3284 Northside Pkwy Suite 150 Atlanta, GA. The comments are flooded with jokes that "If Flock hasn't done anything wrong, they don't need to worry about being surveilled."
