I don't typically have Asian pear, but got some in our oddBunch box recently. On the plus side, its shelf life seems quite long, and it has a nice crunch, but its pretty much flavourless. So we've enjoyed it as a texture mostly – eg on oatmeal porridge, in regular or fruit salad. Do you buy Asian pear often? Is it always flavourless, or is it just what we get here? #fruit

Once upon a time, eleven years ago, my strawberry patch looked like this. I learned after they started dying back several years later that you have to cut the runners once the new plant has established itself. Leaving it connected to the old plant will cause it to die when the old plant dies. Strawberry plants only live 5-8 years--so cut those runners! #Strawberry #Gardening #Fruit

One of today’s projects was to make some plum jam before the plums I picked went bad. Success! I think I knew this before but I relearned today that jam is basically sugar and pectin with fruit flavouring. #gardening #canning #fruit

Friends, I just had THE Most horrifying interaction with a banana, that the heatwave and humidity had somehow managed to ~ liquify inside the intact banana skin~. Does anyone here have experience eating fruit salad/swiss cheese plant (Monstera deliciosa) fruit? We have a ripe fruit and the outer scales are falling off. It smells and tastes delicious. We know not to eat the outer scales re: oxalic acid. We've been eating the inner fruit (kernels?) as is. Some websites online claim that the black flecks should be washed off the kernels while others don't mention it at all. When the Cranet people of Exoplanet 23584 first ground glass and invented telescopes, they looked up and saw the dots were planets. But they also saw millions of these strange white clusters floating between the first and second planet. Later they understood that they were frozen water, similar to Saturn’s Rings, but the perfect distance from the sun to warm and cool into spheres.
