#Gardening #Peppers #Chiles #Iowa #Vegetables New stuff coming on line: Serrano Peppers and Armenian Cucumbers. In Mexico, serranos are a preferred pepper for fresh eating, and I give most of mine away to friends from Mexico. I’ll dry some to make crushed red pepper. The cucumbers are actually a weird form of melon that functions as a cucumber. I first tried these in Spain. They are a typical veggie in SE Spain, known as “alficoz” (or “alpicoz”).

#solarpunksunday #garden #gardening #jardin #garten #peppers Peppers and beans this week. Update on rat situation: I caged and netted my pepper plants but now they are digging underneath the cages! They even managed to move the bricks I placed around the fencing. So I bit the bullet and ordered solar-powered electric fencing. Won’t arrive until Friday. So far, their favorite pepper seems to be ají habanero, also my favorite for drying bc it tastes like sweet saffron. 😭

If you are growing bell peppers, here’s something to remember. If you pick them while they are still dark green, then you will get pepper after pepper after pepper. If you let them turn yellow or red or whatever their ripe color is then the plant will stop producing. That’s why it’s pretty common to see yellow and red bell peppers priced just a little bit more than the dark green ones #Gardening #Peppers
