Als alter Konsumverweigerer bei allem, was mit #DRM zu tun hat, lebt man kulturell (Musik, Filme, Spiele) ja entweder meist in der Vergangenheit oder sucht sich "alternative DRM-freie Quellen". Doof wird das allerdings tatsächlich, wenn eine Band, die man wirklich gut findet, ein neues Album ankündigt, man keinen CD-Player mehr hat und nicht gewillt ist, DRM-der-Anbieter-bestimmt-wie-ich-Gekauftes-nutzen-darf-Geschäftsmodelle mit Geld zu überhäufen. In drei Wochen will "The Warning" ein neues Album rausbringen. Eigentlich würde ich das Kaufen. Aber mein Kaufanspruch ist auch, dass es danach *meins* ist und nicht eine "bezahlte Dauerleihgabe mit möglicher Spontanwegnahme". 🙄 Mal gucken, ob ich eine akzeptable legale Quelle finde. Ggf. § 53 UrhG? Ist dann halt nur doof für die Band.

Others probably already know this, but if you let your #Audible subscription lapse, you will not get titles back that were previously in the included in Audible Plus subscription thing or whatever if you re-subscribe. Just be sure to download and keep all your titles, even if you purchase with cash/credit because I've had to pay for titles twice even though I paid for titles in the past and the book is still published.

question to strayan users of browsers with #DRM removed or disabled... how do you manage #streaming? do you, eg, never watch abc #iView or sbs #OnDemand? i use hardened profiles in my ​:firefox_nightly:​, as i value security & privacy, but otoh i always leave drm enabled, coz i am not interested in cutting off my nose to spite my face so, pls tell me how you manage streaminig, coz atm i just don't understand, ta #dropbearpooterising #dropbearinterwebz #linuxwomen

Huge hammer blow for the French torrent tracker scene. Waves of arrests have taken place, and historic sites/teams are shutting down quickly. This situation affects both the brains behind the platforms as well as some moderation actors. FW, UNFR, Predb, Nexum, Xander, QTZ, Tenmaland, Supply, and Slay3r have either closed or announced imminent closure. "Sony is contacting PlayStation Store users who bought movies from the platform that were distributed by StudioCanal—like Terminator 2, Total Recall, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind—to say that “you will no longer be able to access your previously purchased content from Studio Canal, and it will be removed from your video library.” There’s no mention of any refunds or make-goods for the affected users. Sony simply says the films are going away “due to our content licensing agreements,” once again reaffirming the fact that you are never truly buying anything that’s digital, just temporarily renting it. If Google carries on with its plans to close Android this September, I am probably going to invest in an 8- or 9-inch mini laptop. I figure it will do almost everything I can on my desktop, while still barely fitting in my Wrangler jeans' pockets.
