How many pdflatex runs does it take to fix a light bulb?
Always one more than you think.

Here is a short video capture of one of my favourite computer games from childhood: Grand Prix Circuit by Accolade Inc.
I made it yesterday for my latest blog post.

Wander 0.6.0 is out! This release removes a feature!
An earlier release introduced the ability to pass a 'via=' query parameter to pages loaded in the console. I was not fond of it but added it anyway after succumbing to popular demand.
Back then I didn't quite know why I disliked it. It just felt wrong to alter URLs by adding surplus query parameters. Sure enough, it turned out to be a misfeature and this release removes it.
See https://susam.net/code/news/wander/0.6.0.html for more details.

Switched from RSS to Atom feeds: https://codeberg.org/susam/susam.net/commit/596e1dd
Should have done this long ago. I like how each entry now has its own UUIDv4 and an RFC 3339 timestamp that also conforms to ISO 8601, with the content type explicitly spelt out as HTML.
Also added xmllint to my automated content checks.
See https://susam.net/feed.xml and https://susam.net/tag/absurd.xml for examples. The main feed has one entry for now to stop old entries from reappearing as new in feed readers.

Apr '26 Notes: https://susam.net/26d.html
Bits and pieces of stuff I came across last month. These notes are fairly light compared to the previous month's.

QuickQWERTY 1.2.2 is now available! This release comes with two changes.
First, it fixes a rather annoying bug that caused the 'Restart' link to send the learner all the way back to Unit 1. This has been fixed to restart the current lesson.
Source code management has moved to Codeberg. Links and documentation have been updated accordingly.

Wander 0.4.0 is out.
Try it here: https://susam.net/wander/
This is the fourth release of this small, decentralised, self-hosted tool for discovering the ‘smol’ web.
This update brings small improvements: wildcard patterns in ignore lists, the ‘via=’ query parameter to indicate the referring console, an improved console selection algorithm and better sandbox restrictions.

Really enjoyed playing this game: CSS or BS? - https://www.keithcirkel.co.uk/css-or-bs/
No matter how carefully I play, I still get a few wrong every time. In the process, I learnt several new CSS properties I didn't even know existed.
Here is one my high scores: https://www.keithcirkel.co.uk/css-or-bs/?r=NBQAAAA

Simplified my blogroll a bit. It is no longer a periodically updated list of posts. It is now just a static list of websites. It may sound like a step backward but it removes a few moving parts and simplifies the website setup.
My blogroll is perhaps the only page on my website where every link is purple for me. I visit them all.
There is also an OPML file at the end that provides a feed of all the websites in my blogroll.
