Balancing anonymity with obscurity, I renounce and reject, protect and preserve, and in the meantime fill the sonic marginalia with music, and ghostly glide around the humanity-free zones.

I give you bright morning sun on a cute spiderweb and madrone twigs. The running as ever, marvelous. On this trail, my favorite in Willow Creek for its remote feel and sapling trees, I always get covered in spiderwebs.

The Pacific is too big to contain itself,
Sloshing around o that playful moon we got.
But also evaporating, the ocean flies into the sky
Covering vast areas with mist and dew.
So it was this morning, a dripping cool wet
Unseasonable July delight.
Everything took notice - the redwoods, the moss,
The spiders. Never a soul unless it's a sunny morning - humans miss the best parts of life perhaps.
Victors and victims.
This rock.
Forehead of great segmented rock giant.
Frozen seafloor fractured then cured.
Millenia sleep then somehow the
California assembly (always dissolving)
Reveals it as though bathing in sand,
But we all know it's ready to burst forth
And take it all back, towel off,
Once the cursed ants quit their desultory meandering.
California, at least this part of it, continues blooming space, cool weather, the Pacific Ocean for now continues to work.
Well I finally went to #pycon and it exceeded expectations. It's been a long time since I've done the conference thing - the community overwhelmed me with its heart, and I've come away from it with a lot more optimism than I've had in a long time.
Of course I also had three wonderful runs and drank in the Very Not Sonoma County sights.
We're into foxglove season.
Red hill floats in a fog sea. The sun behind me starts to warm Willow Creek. This is the quintessential coastal NorCal summer weather pattern.
The expanded Taylor Mountain provides not just exquisite 360 views, parts of it feel quite remote. This swath has been the traditional accent since it was opened to the public... So luscious.
Long run today went all over this park with lots of up and down. Utterly gorgeous.
A fine morning in the park. Very glad to be back home and that this is home.

I can't understand why it took me so long to start visiting the Willow Creek Rd trailhead. There's nobody there at 8am on a weekday. The trails are unsurpassed. I can choose any distance or elevation I want, as long as a climb at the end is OK. And it's less drive time than the trailheads I've been driving to lately. What an incredible park (and always thank you to Gianni Club). Dog and I have been four days running.
Long run today. I wonder about the median length of time a pair of shoes spends on a wire.
I was super surprised to see a frog of this size yesterday. I've never seen one bigger than maybe two or three inches- this guy has probably eaten all the others.

Rest Day is so fretful
I seethe as I relax
I anticipate as I dread
Tomorrow's fatigue already eats me up.
How I long for next week's

Home again from the frozen North, running in my biome. Springtime hit while I was away, and so I ran in T-shirt early so as to bask in the shade, so to speak.
Today's beach visit featured the annual by-the-wind-sailor. We're used to seeing their blanched remains but when first washed up they're a brilliant iridescent purple.
I need to talk about unionization, because my workplace is doomed if the execs don't stop dithering in a fantasy. Most of me wants to find another gig where the atmosphere is more professional, but that idea seems at risk generally, and a union is the real path forward. Work controls all of the communication channels among employees - so how does one even get a foot in the door for organizing a bunch of remote, dejected workers (many of whom are comfortable in meaningless mediocrity). And in all the snowing, a shining lake appears.
Quash dissent at home, perpetual war abroad.
I want to see an "impeach and indict" single issue primary challenge to every single chunk in Congress today. There's only one thing to do.
YouTube just told me that Aldous Harding will be at the Castro Theater in September.
The Castro! What a great venue that is ? Was ?
Anyhow I'm sure I won't go- too far, and I had my Aldous a couple years ago (Fillmore is a bit friendlier for tire North Bay folx) But I can't recommend her enough. She's one of my pinnacle songwriters.
Running has been consistent, well balanced between forest and pavement, alone and w doggie. The days are palpably longer, sun wins over fog. Spiders at work. Someone put a cool siphon up in the damaged spillway, a clever country hack that will keep the dam safe for the season.
