@wjmaggos@liberal.city @Mastodon@mastodon.social in fact moderation by topic makes sense, because local law of the district the server is located is one thing... But there are also social norms and behavior in a community that only members of that community can really understand. It's more about culture than about locality.
However, the fediverse has become so interconnected, that this gets very blurry.

@skyblitz@kanoa.de @tbortels@infosec.exchange @deivudesu@mastodon.social @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net and still you are here saying stuff like that... So for me decentralization seams to work.
It doesn't mean everyone needs to listen to you but you have your platform and who ever is interested in what you want to say can hear you.

@cliffwade@infosec.exchange @poleguy@mastodon.social @mackaj@mastodon.me.uk @Mastodon@mastodon.social OK thanks for clarification. I have never encountered this collection thing before. And I'm not fully convinced yet, that muting normal words to avoid a rare encounter of something is a good strategy, but I will not tell people what to do.
However using #mastodonCollections is not my favorite, because it's extremely long and it implies that no other fedi services could use collections (even if right now mastodon is certainly the only one)

@_elena@mastodon.social At least for me it's clear... W social is a financial project to grap some founding money. It's not a project with European sovereignty in mind or with sovereignty for Europeans.
Therefore, it should be avoided.

@j_bertolotti@mathstodon.xyz I watched the OG season as a kid and it was the coolest stuff ever.
Rewatched it recently and it turned out to be actually very wired. Taking a 80s Japanese show "Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger" and inserting 90s US Highschool stuff into it... However, secretly I still think it's the coolest stuff ever and the into theme is still kicking😅

Public polls do tell nothing about the reality.

@swggrkllr3rd @mastodonmigration @jeeynet Yes, needing YouTube to make a living doesn't really work that well, if you can get striped away this living at any moment.
... But on the same side PeerTube (Dev team, instance providers & community) and perhaps Fediverse in general should work on extending the possibility of making money from your content or service.

@CathyTuttle I love this... but from where are people entering Utrecht by bike? It's at least a 1h bike ride from every other bigger city like Amersfoort.
So for this to work I guess you need 60% of people "entering the city" actually living just outside the city / on the city borders.

@draeath @ln @sunpig I think wifi is using frequency modulation and amplitude modulation.
So I would argue it's not flashing in that sense. It's more changing color and getting dimmer on incredibly fast speeds. But, yes light seams so simple and yet our understanding of reality is falling apart, once we think about it a little longer.

PS:
Also hot / cold water make vor an interesting motive in IR.
Just capturing a different wavelength of light, reveals how much different realreality is from what we are used to think from everyday life.

@warandpeas@mastodon.social I always find it quiet descriptive for people, that it seams more plausible for them that literal aliens came from light years away did something and than just disappeared, than humans just could have solved problems by themselves like thousands of years prior to AI...
Come on man. That's what humans do. We solve problems and built stuff. Just because you don't know how to do something doesn't mean anyone before you couldn't done it either.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services I'm just curious. Is this really sustainable on a long scale. Especially if we want "mainstream" to use Fediverse.
I personally hope that people can professionalize in the Fediverse and make a living out of it.
With the federated structure we finally have a way to counter the greed of single closed platforms. If someone starts enshitification, you can leave to a "competitor" at any time or do it yourself if you have the time and passion to.
