Starting a #WebDev from (kinda) scratch is always a pain. Like, I want to write stuff, but I always get stuck on *thinking* about implementations.

Using the project as a learning experience doesn't help either.

And since replying to a thread meant that the entire thread would show up as "Latest" in the list, people would get mad for basically reviving old news.

@Gargron@mastodon.social I didn't know that not writing a CW text simply just sets the media as spoiler / sensitive. I assumed the post simply doesn't get a CW at all (the same you don't get any when you don't have any media present), since the CW placeholder text says "Optional". It does feel like a hidden feature, and I wonder if we can get a setting in the alt text / image edit modal, to be able to mark each media piece as sensitive instead. Pic unrelated.

There are also browser extensions that can change your User Agent (the metadata that tells websites your OS, browser, etc). That will pretty much cover everything. Keep in mind that the website uses spooky language for what are either generic browser APIs, or plain old fundamental functions of the Internet.

@feyter @j_bertolotti A while back (maybe last year?), the official mastodon instances shut down their live timelines, to cut down on bandwidth, I think. Also, since those are general-purpose instances (and *very big*), it became really hard to follow them. Better search also fixed the discovery issues. Each instance can choose if they want those timelines shown or not. And on the account... I just forgot about it, lol. I'm also not that invested in game development, as I was back then.

@feyter @j_bertolotti I have a feeling newer Mastodon folks don't even know that the main instance doesn't show Local / Federated timelines anymore. Also, omg you just reminded me that I made an account on gamedev.place way backk @Critter

Git also comes with their own GUI (git gui command in the terminal).

I personally haven't tested any of them (I just use the VSCode GUI for Codeberg).

@draNgNon @Mastodon For 1: If you try to interact with a user while you are not on your home instance's page, the website will prompt you to insert your username@domain, in order to redirect you back home (img related). For the second point.. people tend to know their own instance, right?
