What’s the point of “including” Amazon Video with Prime, if you still have to pay to watch the videos? What am I missing here.
There’s nothing more annoying than to do a search for information on something, for you to click the link and see it’s from your own question on Reddit from years ago. Still not answered
So not entirely sure what to do at this moment. Filed for unemployment but that can only do so much and isn’t guaranteed.
I’ve been working in the tech field my entire life and for the first time, I’m considering leaving for a more stable field. My little brother makes far less than me, but he has had ONE job at McDonald’s since high school. Never has to worry about job security.
So great. Now I have no job (again) and no place to live on my own (staying with parents whom I haven’tl ived with in over a decade. Ridiculous. I ain’t got shit!
I was fired from my job. It wasn’t sudden , I announced its probability a couple weeks ago. They used the excuse of “performance”. Even though I improved before the deadline, they fired me anyway. They did me dirty. Fuck em.
My Mom was cleaning out the closet and finds my old Speak and Read from when I was a kid almost 50 years ago. 🤣🤣🤣 I also had the Speak and Spell, and Speak and Math. No idea what happened to those guys

As they should be. Any American could have told them not to trust any software that comes out of this place. I’ve been moving all my online stuff to Swiss providers as their renewal dates come up. When it comes to technology, our government is bad, no matter the ruling party; this one’s just the worst. They’ve been ignoring our place in the tech space and security, and no one is paying attention to all the companies that are avoiding the US like the plague and all the identity theft that’s going on. I don’t know what the mindset is of Europeans actually in Europe since I don’t live there, but in the United States it’s most definitely what white people over here think. It’s their primary directive and most live and will die on that sword by it.

Exactly this. I have thought the same thing as well. People dunnit, like we’ve always dunnit. It has always bewildered me why modern people think that past people didn’t also have their scholars, engineers, scientists and other professionals like we do now.
Humans as we know it are over 250,000 years old. We’ve had a lot of time to think about stuff.
However, I believe that the problem is largely due to adopting Eurocentric schools of thought in Western schools. It shows how arrogant and ignorant European culture actually is about the rest of the world. Europeans spread out around the world and essentially learned nothing. They largely think that since they didn’t build it, that they have to reach out to some other galaxy because surely those Black and Brown people over there in loincloths don’t have the intelligence to invent those kinds of things. Black and Brown people most certainly built those things since they existed 200,000 years before Europeans ever existed. 200,000 years gives a genetically curious mammal a lot of time to tinker with stuff.
It really speaks to Eurocentric thought about how little they think of people who aren’t white.

I don’t know what YOU are talking about. The topic isn’t about snow. It’s about the homeless having to sleep in abandoned buildings, breaking into apartments to sleep in random hallways, and sleeping in subways because hedge funds are buying up all the property, creating ridiculous requirements to be able to even get an apartment, thus creating MORE homeless people and keeping them in the cold. And since people upstate don’t have to deal with the homeless or hedge funds, she would have gotten a better chance of a vapid response about snow from somebody upstate. That was my point. I live in NYCHA housing in the Bronx and every year we deal with the homeless breaking into our building sleeping on random floors. It’s a problem caused by hedge funds treating residential spaces as products in a store and not a necessity.

When Democrats said two weeks ago that they want to “reform” ICE, that’s when I knew for sure they ARE NOT for the people and cannot be given one iota of trust. In fact, they should be trusted even less because they’ll smile in your face and give lip service to act like your ally, and then do everything opposite of that behind your back. Especially with Schumer in there shilling for Israel, he will do everything to put Israel first, even if that includes throwing Americans under the bus by giving away all our data to them.

I promptly ended my Ring subscription when Amazon announced it was turning on face-scanning on them last December. I live in NY and my apartment building is majority immigrants from Africa and the Dominican Republic. Everyone has Amazon packages delivered daily. No, you will not get me to use my camera for surveillance on any of them. And the pet scanning was super sus.

Agreed. I like to read personal blogs, and what I hate is taking the time to read something that sounds interesting, and then realizing about two paragraphs in that it’s AI. Like it’s trying so hard to pretend it’s real writing, but losing the human composition cues to keep it up for long-form writing. It starts to sound robotic, repeating things, talking too much about a topic, too wordy, saying weird phrases not native to human conversation, etc.
It reminds me of when the scourge of SEO hit the internet. Bloggers wanted to increase visitors to their sites by keeping to the top of Google search, so they abandoned writing organically and only wrote in a way to appease the SEO algorithm. This led to the deterioration of writing quality of blogs and good, creative personal blogs got buried to the back of Google search under all the SEO slop.
