Regarding not being dependent on the whims of a single central org: Cwtch seems promising as it is completely decentralized over the Tor network and aims for good e2ee.
Regarding Signal: they seem to have calmed down with kickban - I have been daily driving using Whisperfish as the primary app and no problem since a year.

Though:
- they aren't CLI by necessity, it should be possible to wrap a nice GUI around (just like the countless existing GUI that wrap around cd burning and ripping tools, ffmpeg, etc.)
- there are WISIWYG markdown editors
- Git isn't required. Some registrars (e.g. Infomaniak) offer a tiny static website that you can SFTP into (with FileZilla) to deposit you static files.

I am under the impression that static website generators that ingest Markdown and spit out stuff that you can upload on the hosting that came for free with the domain you registeted, did mostly got us "there".

The key part here is not the bottle opener end, but the pointy bit at the opposite end: you can use it to stab cans open (I would guess in a similar fashion as the sharp hook on a swiss knife can opener when you start?)

Now add poor hand hygiene while mostly outdoor, and now you also have a higher rate of gastro intestinal infections on top.
Both all year round with no seasons (respiratory even in summer, and gastro int. even in winter).
I absolutely DO NOT miss my mandatory military service as an army doctor.
At least hopefully on the ship they wash their hands properly and miss out on that half of the fun...)

@HauntedOwlbear@eldritch.cafe am sure the manufacturers' official excuse is something along the line of Bluetooth standards not offering some simple way to do synchronization (there is nothing like "PTP over Bluetooth") and therefore music sounds weird when broadcast to multiple receivers which don't support the same proprietary extensions.
(which would actually not be a hard requirement to share music on _headsets_. But "lock-in / network effect" are to too juicy profit sources)

It's as if you needed to buy one of those 80s' splitter for each separate brand of wired headphones. 🤮
(*): kudos to Logitech to allow this with only buttons presses, no app required.
(**): am sure some noname on AliExpress forgot to put limitations and might cross pair.

(*: because of a isolated powerloss in the pumping system, without engaging backup, while the cluster isn't powered by backup).
In our science cluster, it merely was a mess to restart.
In badly designed/hastily built AI data centres, the servers cook themselves, hw is damaged.

C'est pour ca aussi sur les model plus vieux les doigts surnumeraires, les 3e mains mal placees, etc. Meme-si ces erreures la sont plus facilement corrigibles.

Most recently AI - What's the point in encrypting everything end-to-end and then have the end-point stream all messages back to cloud servers running Meta's AI for summarising, "smart"-search and othe similar useless crap?
So yeah that E2EE is very "on paper theoretically", and in practice is mostly a marketing ploy to gain some user confidence avoid them switching, in the years after the scandals around Snowden blowing the whistle.

@kai_klnd@troet.cafe @Tutanota@mastodon.social surpisingly: yes, mostly since reorganizing its direct messaging feature to rely on Facebook Messenger, which it self had incorporated the E2EE protocol from Signal, not long after doing the same with WhatsApp.
Though "E2E" is very relative - technically such scheme can only be trusted as much as said end-points - which is hard given than none of the Apps by Meta are open source.
And all these apps have a few extremely glaring holes:

Oui, tout à fait: si on a de la chance, les 8 ou 9 cas actuelements connus sont à eux seuls l'intégralité de ce cluster.
Ce qui m'inquiète (surtout que l'HPS causé par le Hanta des amériques est en deux phases, et que la première ressemble juste à un gros refroidissement), c'est que peut-être on n'est au courant que des cas les plus symptomatiques et que ça ait beaucoup plus circulé sur le bateau et donc eu l'opportunité de muter et s'adapter.

On ne pourra effectivement pas prédire grand chose à partir de mutations sur les séquences des prélèvement sur les infectés. La plus part des mutations seront inconnues au bataillon sur Uniprot. Il n'y pas (encore) de base référence de "mutations cliniquement relevantes".

I.e.: it's only disadvantages (as you point out), no real advantage
(It's called *mass*-transit for a reason. Over a whole year, there's a metric crap ton of people riding public transport. The salary of the drivers are a tiny drop in the bucket of the cost to operate the transportation network. AI won't save that much money per ride).
