I was thinking nobody knew how to market a story that's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, if the galaxy was a comic fantasy version of Australia, with the fantastic wildlife narrated by David Attenborough.
After reading this, I'm thinking self-publishing is the way I'll be going.

I've queried almost fifty agents, with responses ranging from no response, to a rejection in 2 hours, to a rejection that took 614 days. I thought I might have an advantage when I discovered a friend I'd done amateur theatre with in the 80s was now an agent. Her rejection took 9 days.
