Even if it did revolve around programming, in some of the forums I see "programmers" skip writing specifications and protocols entirely in favor of magic "solve everything all at once" (hint: they don't) systems...

Anyway, I have also noted aspects of this will mire most vibe software in a cottage industry few will engage with.

We'll go back to other social cues for quality like specifications many can engage with, reputation metrics, word of mouth etc.

I follow a lot of chat in different forums on this, and I feel like part is the AI propaganda but I definitely hear about the propaganda creeping into teams. Ironically, there was a slow movement a few years back, just before LLMs emerged, or as they were... I have it on my list to circle back to. LLMs over took the movement but I think we should go back.

I'm not a gearhead so this is far from my own domain, but this is an exceptionally interesting video that should be interesting to most in #GLAM

Indexing/finding-aids for what's there do seem really important. I wondered that about a .gov site the other day. Great, it's archived via archive.org, but how do you find it if you didn't know it existed? How do you link back to it if it is somewhere else? There are small search tricks on archive.org that help but the complexity of the archived web is high!

@bishbashbackup US folks and those that have worked in US institutions have a lot of experience with disk images. Hopefully some can help. There are a lot of references on DANNNG; some notes about compression, e.g. don't if emulation is a strategy. https://dannng.github.io/disk-imaging-decision-factors.html There may be more in the depths their links. Do you know the expected savings from compression, and which target format might offer most savings? & whether it is worth it in this instance? Or is it just general guidance?
