Currenly at BFI's Screen/Play event for London Games Festival. Fascinated to hear about people's career turns, starting in film before moving into games and vice versa.

Also great to see colleagues talking about the upcoming Rogue Trooper Movie and our archiving work behind the scenes. #rebellion

@beet_keeper Thanks for sharing this. Hadn't previously come across DANNNG, will give it a read through! I'm just looking for general guidance at this stage. Am aware that raw imaging will copy over empty sections of computer disks/drives, with the potential to unnecessarily occupy additional storage space. Am interested how other digipres people are addressing this, and whether there's any consensus on approach. :)

Thanks @misty. My follow up query would be, what's the best compression method to choose? Have come across a few approaches: -Standard zipping options like gzip -Self-healing-ish container formats like .rar and .par. -Ddrescue can produce sparse disk images. -Then there's proprietary formats with there own inbuilt compression methods. I recognise it may be context dependent. But am wondering how other digipres people are approaching this, and if there's any general recommendations/consensus.

Am looking into disk image compression, and wondering whether there's a digital preservation friendly approach for this. Am wondering whether gzipping raw disk images would do the job. Although concerned this may increase risk of data loss, if the file got corrupted.

Is anyone archiving compressed disk images or have recommendations on formatting?

Look forward to supporting all the great game studies research getting published. Particularly hoping to see more articles linking to game preservation! 🕹️ 📺 #gamestudies #gamepreservation #gamearchiving

Premissh and the blog were created for assessment, as part of my MA Archives & Records Management UCL. The INST0045 Digital Curation module is fantastic! Taught by Hannah Smyth, who really helped get my head around PREMIS.

My student project Premissh has been shortlisted for a #digipres award!

Thanks Hannah Smyth at UCL Department of Information Studies for the nomination. Premissh is a prototype #BASH script for autogenerating #PREMIS records. For more info check out the blog series I wrote about it:

Great to see the Australian videogame preservation project 'Play it Again' getting well deserved recognition, being shortlisted for a digital preservation award: https://www.dpconline.org/events/digital-preservation-awards/the-finalists-award-for-research-and-innovation?view=article&id=5286:dpa2024-finalists-ri-play-it-again&catid=100:digital-preservation-awards

Would love to see a similar style project done for British videogames 🕹️ 🎮 👾 #britsoft #dpa2024

Really enjoyed the Japan: Myths to Manga exhibition at the Young V&A museum today. Learnt all about Japanese folklore through #ascii animals... and a dog in a kimono. 🐶https://www.vam.ac.uk/exhibitions/japan-myths-to-manga
