Kali, Mahakali, Bhadrakali, Kalika; a Hindu Mother Goddess of war, anger, time, change, creation, destruction, and power.
She emerged from the goddess, Durga, who is a goddess of protection, strength, motherhood, destruction, and wars.
Despite her fierce and relatively fearsome appearance, she is considered the divine mother, the dark mother, and the terrible mother -- she is a compassionate goddess that wears a garland of severed heads and a skirt of arms or nothing at all.
Her hair appears wild, disheveled, and her eyes are red with the burning fires of rage. She is often depicted with blue black skin and a red tongue that sticks out of her mouth under fangs, which continues to paint a picture of a wild woman, or, as some would say, a demon.
Much like all dark goddesses, she may appear as a demon and not a loving goddess, but she is misunderstood. She is, in my perspective, a goddess of duality, where she transcends the rigged boxes human dub as good and evil.
Her true nature is misunderstood due to her appearance.
She is more than willing to do the dark deeds required to destroy evil and grant freedom. She destroys our physical ego, thus destroying the attachment to our temporary vessels, our physical bodies and attempts to show us that we should enjoy life because death is inevitable.
Kali Ma is the consort to Shiva, who is the Destroyer AND the Transformer -- both a reminder that life is temporary. Kali's rage is only quelled by Shiva when she becomes lost in anger and violence. Together, they destroy illusion, the ego, and the illusion of duality.
People call upon her in battle and she is often depicted with a sword that represents knowledge and destroys ignorance, and a severed head that represents liberation from our ego or the attachment from our physical bodies.
She came from the Goddess, Druga, who called upon her to defeat a demon named Raktabija who produces clones with every drop of his blood that hits the ground. She defeated him by drinking every single drop of his blood and ate each of his clones.
Kali is revered as a destroyer but is worshiped as a creator. Despite appearing in countless violent stories, she embodies a complex duality, thus she is multifaceted. Women turn to her for fertility while artists call to her for inspiration. This beautiful goddess is called upon during the most critical times when an action must be taken because she is an intense and highly capable goddess who is ready to take on all the suffering and torment of the world.
What I love about Kali is that despite transcending duality, she is exactly what I feel duality truly is because she is embraced as a violent warrior ready and able to destroy anything and anyone through any means necessary while also being a compassionate and loving goddess.
There is soooo much more to this amazing goddess that I could get into, just because of how much I can connect to her, but I advise those interested to do the research to her stories. The more I read about her, the more connected to her I felt.
Have something to add? I'd love to hear more ♥

Oya or Oiá is a Yoruba Goddess of wind, lightning, storms, the sea, fertility, & rain. As such, she was called upon in times of a drought or when crops were not growing.
She is the daughter of Obatala, who is the god of creation is the wife of Sango, god of thunder & lightning.
She is depicted as a fierce warrior known for her bravery and courage who brings about change and transformation. She is associated with a fan and a sword or a machete. Her fan controls the wind and brings storms; her sword cuts through obstacles to bring change.
She is celebrated beyond the Yoruba culture in various African traditions including Santeria, Candomble, and Vodou. While celebrated as a goddess of fertility, she is also revered for death and rebirth, as dark goddesses usually are within the Crone phase.
Because she is also considered a warrior queen, she is associated with strength and leadership and is called for protection in hard times or to help overcome obstacles to embrace new beginnings. She is the protector of women and patron of feminine leadership.
What to expect when working with Oya: consistent storms of change, brutal truths, encouragement to transform into your better self.

Others say she wears a skirt made up of 9 scarves that created a rainbow in order to honor her 9 stillborns.
Have something to add about beloved Oya? I'd love to hear more ♥
So, I've decided to get and try out some mouth stim toys because I've been smoking/vaping increasingly and I've theorized it's due to my AuDHD and needing something in my mouth.
I used to chew my nails but I stopped after putting on acrylic tips until I started biting the skin around my nails. I keep biting the inside of my cheek, which apparently is "a sign of mouth stimming" but I'm not sure how true that one is.
In my past, I smoked cigarettes but mainly did it socially and when I was overstimulated. I never got addicted to nicotine and was able to quit cold turkey and stick with smoking weed.
I bite the skin from my lips frequently even when it's not ready to come off. It's just so many signs of ways I fidget or stim using my mouth that I decided to try it out finally. I should be getting the ones pictured today and I got ones that look like feathers that will be here tomorrow in case the ones I get today feel awkward.
At first, I kind of felt weird about looking for this type of product because they're mainly geared towards children and it made me feel... less like an adult but in a bad way, if that makes sense. I just need to remember that even the studies of ADHD and Autism are geared towards children, not adults, and they mainly use research done on boys, not girls.
I'm kind of excited and hope that I'm right. I'd love to smoke less and have a lower tolerance again while smoking to have fun and be high, not just smoking to be doing something with my mouth.
Fingers crossed!
Update - Alt Text:
The picture is of 4 chew toys geared towards children with different patterns that would give each one its own unique feel when used.

Sometimes Reddit gives some good content. I came across a recommendation for this book in r/relationship_advice and started reading it last night. I've come to the conclusion that this is a really great book that I think everyone should read. I say everyone because I feel like women who are abusive may play the same game that men do.
This comes from a therapist who specializes in abuse and writes out her experiences and thoughts on why men do what they do and what red flags to look out for.
I haven't finished the book yet, but I've already learned so much and it has opened my eyes to what lies beyond their actions. I'll post more thoughts as I read/after I finish the book.
* From the author's introduction: "I have simply chosen the word abuser as a shorthand way of saying 'men who chronically make their partners feel mistreated or devalued.'"
Update @ 11:32am EST | I can't seem to edit the ALT text for the image to say the book's title. The book is called "Why Does He Do That?: Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men" by Lundy Bancroft.

I think one of the hardest things about being a bookworm is the stressful moment where you have to choose what to read next between several books you're excited to read. I will soon be finishing this book but do I read my new Lilith book? Read about Chiron? Draconic astrology? Another psychology book? UGH I need more eyes and another brain so I can read 2 books simultaneously.

@hemlockcookie@mas.to I totally get that.. it's definitely a tough read and an emotional roller coaster for me. 100% keep taking your time and don't force yourself 🖤
@Em@pagan.plus Christians. Demonology, Demonolatry, and King Solomon continues to consider him a demon, but also note that he is also considered a god of the Canaanites.
I believe Christianity also confuses him as Satan but they consider all demons Satan, it seems. What I find interesting about the demonization of him considering Baal in Hebrew means "Lord" and many used to have it in front of their names, like this one author, Baal Kadmon.
@Em@pagan.plus Yes~!! Baal, who is now considered a demon, used to be considered a God of Storms as well so he could also be likened to the other storm gods too 🖤
We stan the storm gods on this account!
