It is now Pride Month, which means many things, and personally, it means another attempt to find a sliver of peace while living within my body. I have been fighting for my life from birth, not just because I'm trans, but because I lived through DV starting as early as I can remember. Over the years this has left me consistently searching for somewhere to stay the night. I've been fighting for a long time and I believe I deserve a little comfort. This month, I have a consultation for top surgery; my second consultation with this surgeon, with the first being over 6 years ago, as soon as I turned 18. The first one fell apart because I unexpectedly lost the stability I had found. The only thing really keeping me from top surgery this time is not having a working car. I know if I had health insurance, and if the doctor took insurance, I could get a free ride, but that isn't the case. My partner, @magicalgrrrl@indiepocalypse.social and I *need* a car, not only to get me to these crucial appointments, but also in order to get her accessible employment. A car would make it so we aren't needing to spend upwards of $25 to get our medicine every few days, and even more to get a couple of days' groceries (which REALLY adds up).
