The cost of each of the 14 additional vessels is expected to jump to slightly more than $18 billion from $10.2 billion, for a total cost of $275 billion for 15 ships. This is ridiculous (about #AI use at companies): "The failure rate is so high that even basic inquiry leaves us in an untenable position. Any coherent question about how it’s going, what the goal is, who is using it, constitutes an inadvertent attack on the chain of command responsible for the work because there are no good answers to anything."

Examples include a commemorative passport with Trump’s image inside its pages & the addition of his signature on newly printed $100 bills. There are also proposals to feature his image on 24-karat gold coins and commemorative $250 bills. A Treasury Department spokesperson said the coin “is in production and minted in Philadelphia, and it will be available in the fall.” #Trump #narcissism #greed #vanity

Under a #law passed in 2020, the #Treasury Department can mint $1 coins during 2026 to mark the 250th anniversary “with designs emblematic of the U.S. semiquincentennial.” However, according to US code, “[o]nly the portrait of a DECEASED individual may appear on United States currency & securities” — a law that sprang from a Colonial-era tradition against putting current presidents on #US coins [distinguishing] themselves from the British monarchy. #Trump #narcissism #greed #vanity

"That pattern held for chief executives of Fortune 500 companies. Since we couldn’t directly measure the size of their egos, we measured factors that many previous studies have identified as reliable proxies for narcissism: the sizes of their pay packages, their signatures and their photos in their company reports. (No, the chief executives probably aren’t directly overseeing the page layout, but their underlings have to figure out what will and won’t please the boss.) Commanding outsize compensation and projecting an outsize image sends a message right out of Ron Burgundy’s playbook: I’m kind of a big deal. We found that the higher chief executives scored on this index, the more likely they were to seek power and status by becoming chairmen of their own companies and joining the boards of other companies. These were the chief executives who made the most negative statements about remote and hybrid work during the first two years of the pandemic.
