Meine Server bekommen ja täglich vielfach ungebetenen Besuch. Die Reports, die ich dann bekomme, leite ich an die entsprechenden #abuse Email-Adressen weiter. 80 -90% sind von #Microsoft . Bisher habe ich nur von #hetzner und von #alibaba eine Rückmeldung bekommen, z.B. "Thank you for your information, Alibaba Cloud has reviewed the content of your report. After verification, your report has been confirmed. ..." Wo kann ich Sperrung der MS Adressen für das #Vodafone Netz beantragen????

Wir hatten mehrere Buckets bei Hetzner, Performance und Zuverlässigkeit über Monate hinweg gut, keine Probleme im produktiven Betrieb. Gefühlt parallel mit der ersten Ankündigung von höheren Preisen wegen AI gab es die ersten Probleme mit der Performance, Timeouts, der produktive Betrieb wurde problematischer. Wir haben vor vielleicht vier Wochen unser S3 komplett von dort wegmigriert, es ging einfach nicht mehr! Wenn man sich in der Konsole anmeldet, bekommt man seit langer, langer Zeit die im Bild gezeigte Meldung. Unter https://status.hetzner.com/incident/ebd62173-d902-4e75-939a-265c0b3f1ddb kann man dann sehen, dass die Probleme sogar schon im Januar angefangen haben.

i guess #hetzner went enterprise -- the new prices make me find a new home for new workloads. why? i've been a fan of CCX13 VMs with 2 vCPUs, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB NVMe SSDs and 20 TB traffic. CCX13 was launched almost 3 years ago and used to be 12 EUR/month. currently i think it's 20 EUR/month. for new orders it'll be 43 EUR/month. https://www.hetzner.com/news/new-dedicated-vcpu-cloud-server/

I'm also thinking of a subscription model for MakerTube like Spectra is discussing it. Price increase at Hetzner's is hitting us quite hard (roughly +30%) and I don't know how to cover costs for future storage increase. Sadly I must say that the donation based approach has its limits. Feck every company that thinks so little of me as a customer to put feck'n AI chat in front of me for support. Rat bastards #Hetzner can rot in hell. I hope every single feck'n server they have crashes and is unrecoverable. $31 for a $6.99 server that sat idle for a couple months that only had Elasticsearch for my old Mastodon server on it. Says my storage is 200GB for June and 100gb for May when my disk used size is only 27gb and all get is a useless AI support chat... feck all the way off. Paid my last bill and deleted the server.

Heads up for any folks using @hetzner@mastodon.hetzner.social: scammers seem to be trying to exploit the recent bump in pricing by sending "unpaid invoice notification" e-mails. Easy to fall for it before morning coffee. "Update Payment Method" link obviously leads to a scam site, so not particularly hard to spot either. Be careful out there. :blobcatcoffee: P.S. yes I am aware of the shitty ways Hetzner treated a bunch of fedi instances; this is not a recommendation. #Hetzner #InfoSec #SysAdmin

Mam nadzieję, że nikt niczego nie stracił. W razie czego proszę o kontakt. Usługa działa od teraz na moim prywatnie wykupionym serwerze u #Hetzner (serwerownia w Niemczech). DNS dalej przez FreeDNS::42, także utrzymujemy politykę, żadnego #Cloudflare tak jak to lubicie najbardziej. #Writefreely

Picture your neighbourhood. Your friends, family, acquaintances and co-workers. Your local community. The local shops that feed all of you. Your neighbourhood relies on a simple balance. How much each household consumes can be predicted with reasonable accuracy. Which means that supplies in malls and local shops can be programmed to match demand, and, unless there are major external disruptive events in the supply chain, prices can be reasonably stable. Now imagine that a greedy and very wealthy family moves in your neighbourhood. They soon start consuming more than half of the supplies in your local stores. They drive to malls with trucks and vans and load all the bread, fruit and vegetables that they can put their hands on. They start disrupting supply chains and drive prices up. This is exactly what’s currently happening in the hardware world. Demand for RAM to run fast #AI models is so high that prices have gone up 500% from September 2025. Hosting companies so far have tried to absorb the shocks, but if prices keep high for so long at some point they have no option but to pass those higher costs to the consumers. #Hetzner has now joined a long list of other companies that have been affected by this. Prices for hosted servers are up by +30%, and +3% for auctioned server (and now I feel lucky that mine is an auctioned server). This impacts the ability of people to self-host their own services, and, since many Fediverse instances run on Hetzner too, it may mean a big impact on the Fediverse as a whole too. https://docs.hetzner.com/general/infrastructure-and-availability/price-adjustment/

Ich bekomme gerade ungewöhnlich gute phishing mails die so tun als würden sie von Hetzner stammen. Sie sind per KI individualisiert, es stimmen alle Daten (Anrede, Domainname, Kontaktadresse, usw.) und behaupten, dass meine Domain-Registrierung abgelaufen wäre und bieten an dies kostenlos zu verlängern. Sogar das Ablaufdatum stimmt fast... Einzig die Absenderadresse und die Linkziele sind verdächtig. Also aufpassen! #phishing #hetzner
