I understand that memoirs are meant to present politicians in a good light, but man does Kamala’s memoir present her in a good light. I just finished chapter three, which covers her time as California AG and her handling of investigating the mortgage crisis of 2008. I’m impressed by her willingness to challenge institutions in order to protect and speak up for citizens. It’s not something can be taken for granted in American politics.
started a medication this week that costs $44 per day. fortunately insurance does pay for it even though it’s not generic yet. and no, it’s not cheaper on goodrx. this is silly #healthcarecrisis

Just cancelled my #nytimes subscription that I’ve had since college. It was how I learned to read the news on a daily basis. I used to read their daily newsletter and memorize the outline to make sure I retained something.
It’s a shame that the editors and publishers consistently fail to recognize what experts across different fields have told them. In politics, epidemiology, and now gender-affirming healthcare, they have rejected what most of the world have assumed as objective truth. This is enough.
I distrust anyone who quotes the #Stoics. Most of the time, it’s because #Stoic #philosophy feeds into toxic #masculinity—and in my experience, atextual Stoic quotes are most often perpetrated by white men. Surprise!!! White men, quoting other white men about the benefits of avoiding their emotions and avoiding being upset by things around them? Weird.
Just found out that three LGBT bars in STL experience threats of violence last night. The threats were credible enough that one of the locations had law enforcement presumably from a federal agency show up.
I’ve never been to a drag show and I know I can’t until I leave the Midwest. It feels everyday like air is being sucked out of my environment while people who stole from black people and queer people for decades and centuries trick uneducated masses into perpetuating the worst, fascistic tendencies of the American psyche.
I’m not a victim. I’m just being told I need to fit into the mold of what is permissible, otherwise I will face consequences. While oxygen deprivation consumes my thoughts and overcomes my self-control, I’m expected to be normal and act like nothing is happening.
