Buying DRM-free ebooks is way too difficult 🥲 There are a few technical books, and some science fiction.

Sure I like paper books, but storage is an issue and I only read most books once.

Age verification will not work. Parents routinely give their own devices to their children to keep them busy.

So when mandatory age checks kick in, parents will verify their laptop, TV and phone, before handing them back to their children.

And then what? We're back to the same problem, except with an extra layer of surveillance on top.

Choosing alternatives to #bigTech made me realise how uncomfortable people are with change. They get confused when the UI is different, and think it looks old and difficult.

I talk to people who try to move away from #Google, #Meta or #Microslop but fail because the friction is too great.

The ability to learn and adapt to new Software is a skill. The better we get at it, the more we future-proof ourselves against #enshittification.

@elena I am sometimes reminded of the anti-AI bubble I live in. As soon as I talk to people, I realise how many just use LLMs routinely without questioning the ethics, energy costs, privacy risks or impact on their capacity to think. I love solving problems, and I do it with my brain.
