@MrLee @reece two decades ago I was an account manager for a beverage distributor and among others I had the Minot Air Force Base commissary (government operated) and base exchange (contractor operated) in my book of business.
It was always astonishing to me how well stocked and managed the commissary was compared to the grocers in town, and how hard I had to bargain to get my product on the shelves. Even given the steeper discount I had to offer the commissary to get on their shelves, it was my most profitable account because they would always move product at volume.
“Government run” is always tossed around like it’s a bad thing, but when things go wrong it’s usually because the naysayers in office find a way to stack the deck against the operation and their constituents’.
