I've updated Griode (my Launchpad-and-Raspberry-Pi-in-a-trenchcoat DIY music instrument!) so that it runs on modern Python (therefore, on modern Raspberry Pi OS).

Changes include:

- new persistence layer (settings are saved in individual YAML files instead of Python shelve databases)

- support for USB audio interfaces (better quality, higher volume, lower latency than the Pi's built-in audio)

- better hotplug support (unplugging/replugging a Launchpad should now work correctly)

@nileane@nileane.fr ça doit vachement dépendre des endroits. Il y a quelques années j'étais à un barbec chez un pote et le tour de France passait devant chez lui. Ok la rue était bloquée quelques heures, et il y a eu un peu de bruit au moment du passage du tour mais ça a vraiment pas duré longtemps et le reste du temps on aurait pu oublier que c'était là. Par contraste en 98 dans la banlieue calme où j'habitais ça a été le bordel pendant toute la soirée après un certain match de coupe du monde. Sachant que j'habitais pas près d'un stade, de bars, d'un lieu de vie quelconque, ni dans une rue connectant quoi que ce soit, donc j'avais vraiment l'impression que des pélos avaient décidé de fêter ça en sortant en caisse et en klaxonnant pendant des heures. Je te passe aussi l'effet "pas ce soir, y a un match" quand tu veux sortir boire un verre avec des potes ou un·e date et que tu sais que ça va être impossible d'avoir une conversation dans un bar à cause des téloches avec le son à donf et les gens en train de gueuler. Je suis pas fan de cyclisme (et encore moins du tour), et je trouve ça cool que les gens se retrouvent dans des tiers lieux pour faire société autour d'un événement, mais dire que le tour dérange davantage que la coupe du monde, ça correspond pas du tout à mon expérience vécue 🤔

It takes almost 6 hours to do Berlin-Strasbourg (about 750km), and less than 2 hours to do Strasbourg-Paris (about 500km). The effective speed on that route is therefore 125 km/h on the German section, and 250 km/h on the French section. (This is for the express train that only stops in Frankfurt, Mannheim, Karlsruhe. If you take other trains the German section is even slower.) That's why some people consider German trains to be slow as fuck. I hope from the bottom of my heart that it'll get better once the big infrastructure works that are currently underway are complete, and that it can bring the Berlin-Paris trip to 6 hours or less - ideally with more than a single departure per day at 7am, and more like the comparable Lille-Marseille route (1000km in less than 5 hours, with 5+ departures per day). Oh also don't get me started on comfort in ICE trains - I'd pick 2nd class TGV over 1st class ICE any day, mostly because of the size and position of the tablets.

@itamarst@hachyderm.io @Lana@beige.party 100% this. Fwiw i called the two companies that hold my 401k and other investments; and was able to verify that my portfolio didn't include nasdaq 100. The closest thing was an index fund but that will be recomposed in December so that gives me some time to figure out what to do. I agree that the whole thing is a scam and that a bunch of people should go straight to jail if we weren't in an utterly corrupt country; however people *can* absolutely do something about it, even if it's definitely tedious.

@r0k@mastodon.social @mttaggart@infosec.exchange If I understand correctly, as soon as an AUR doesn't have a maintainer anymore (because the maintainer removes themselves), the AUR can be adopted by someone else. It looks like it happened e.g. for stripe-cli: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/stripe-cli (Very short timeline between the maintainer removing themselves and the package being adopted + malwarized.) Note: the hostile commits were already removed from the AUR git repo for that package.
