I'm getting a good grip on go(lang) now. The main part causing me anxiety is that everyone goes on about things being done idiomatically, so I'm constantly second guessing myself with "Will this project structure see me labelled as an outcast?!" 😬😂

People are saying that laws requiring OS vendors to make people state their age (bracket) are no big deal because the OS doesn't have to verify it, meaning privacy is maintained.

Currently correct, but I suspect a significant probability that the next stage is, or will be building up to, "This isn't working, as kids are lying about their age. Every OS must include a way to verify ID via an approved provider and it's illegal to allow means to circumvent it"

I rewatched Upload recently, and it occurred that the more people outsource their thinking and lives to LLMs the closer we get to the living embodiment of the "2Gigs" i.e. you've hit your allowance, to continue thinking you need to pay or wait. Obviously, people who use AI as an assistant rather than letting it handle everything will be less affected, but this emerging "Let agents handle your entire life" trend makes it worrying as some won't have the core skills to cope without it.

I'm constantly amused by YouTube's attempts to figure out what to advertise to me when I view shorts. In the latest session I got adverts for bibles/religion, then adverts for yoga, after that it moved on to gambling, and then one for an app that can help me pick up goth women. I like to imagine the algorithm getting increasingly annoyed that I'm not watching them and finally just going "Nothing has worked! Deploy the sexy goth!".
