@Tooden@aus.social I love Angostura bitters - not in a traditional lemon lime and bitters as we used to make behind the bar - too much sweet lime cordial, lemonade, a dash of bitters - all too sweet, not very bitter at all. But soda, lime juice (not cordial) and bitters with the tiniest dash of blood orange cordial for just enough sweetness to balance is delicious. When I was drinking, I'd mix with gin, but now that I'm off the piss, just a pinch of salt. @SeaFury@aus.social

I loved the "I don't eat" poll option) Bitter Lemon provides a little sugar, and the combination of bitter and sour seems to sooth an upset stomach.

As a retired ex-(not-really-a-very-good-except-T-SQL)-coder, I *felt* that, and, for the first time in my life, realised that I was a really brilliant code reader, and a middling code writer. I could read almost any language, and debug many; if I was told what a particular module / function / script was supposed to be doing, but that it was failing, I could almost always spot the bug. Couldn't necessarily know how to fix it, mind, you. You are, of course, right. Your students do need to know how to read code, if for no other reason than to know if what the LLM has spat out vaguely matches the prompt.

@mattblaze I am in a hotel now (in Japan, for context). I observed that you could access any floor when my backpack pressed several floor buttons on our first ride. When I later attempted to access the laundry room floor but could not, but could access my floor, thought that perhaps the first observation was an anomaly associated with the fact that the only other elevator was being attended by an elevator repairman at the time of the multiple floor incident. It turns out that I had my Suica card in my hand, not my hotel card, had selected my floor based on the swipe of another guest in the elevator, but was unable to select the laundry floor after a time out. I discovered this when I couldn't open my room with the Suica. The flaw in this hotel is that one swipe enables multiple floors, defeating the security access aspect while providing the anonymity. A guest can swipe, and an intruder can then access a floor that they have previously observed a target accessing, and then, presumably, having determined the room number via other (social engineering) means, door knock with "hotel engineering".

It is the contrast media that emits the positions in PET. That said, I have, rather conveniently ignored the mass of the contrast media, which would make you temporarily heavier.

Root, recompile to defeat certificate pinning, MITM, hide root and then using something like http toolkit to work out what an application was doing was pretty straightforward. Reverse engineering for everyone.

The biggest problem that I recalled when I tried it, though, was answering a call; not that you couldn't do it, but if you wanted to have a confidential conversation in an open plan office then you would have to undock your phone to walk away and hope that those apps were as resilient as desktop apps when undocking.

Wasn't the full x64 binary, obviously, but was the same OS API, and the shite that is the AI snapdragon "tell me how to cook pasta because I am a father who is unexpectedly stuck at home with my kids without my missus" devices that officeworks and hardly normal advertise evolved from that. Good? Probably not. Relevant? Also probably not. Could Apple run the full OS on either hardware if they wanted - yeah, they could. I guess that was the point that I was trying to make. It has been done before.

The windows phone (Nokia something something) had a great camera, and when plugged in, usable Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, decent keyboard and mouse. Let down by not honouring typical keyboard shortcuts in the applications, so required you to use the mouse more than you would otherwise. Was a useful gimmick, and it was enough for proving a point. Samsung Dex still works just as well - which is to say it is clunky.

@mmalc you would know, then, that safe, accurate medical transcription has been about the same distance into the future as *safe* full self driving, but for much longer. Both require hyper-vigilant supervision, for the same reason - anything missed by either can easily be fatal. Voice recognition is not getting better, now that it is being called #AI, but it probably is being trusted by decision makers more than it should be. @skinnylatte @wakame

I skipped past the bit where I ignored the "short of feeding" part of your question, because whilst they are smart birds, they are also motivated by food and what interests them at any one point in time, with food coming first by a long margin. Buy some, and separate it into snack size pieces that you can easily separate while still frozen using vegetable bags stolen ^H^H^H^H^H^H borrowed from the supermarket and repurposed as slivers of plastic like used to come between sliced cheese. A piece of mince roughly the size of a fifty cent coin is an ideal daily snack. You freeze it all together but the plastic sheets allow you to peel off one little slice, which will rapidly defrost, and can be fed to the stone rearrangers. Ask me how I know. Edit: don't feed them mince - see replies below for better options.

For reference, a return airfare to LAX is around AUD 1047, or USD 681, so that difference will pay for three return airfares. @not2b @mattblaze

@Fractalfarmer@mastodon.social @crowgirl@hachyderm.io here I am, privileged white male, living in a land where it was cheap or free and easy for me to choose permanent infertility for me when the time was right, and where abortion is legal, inexpensive or free, scratching my head trying to work out what is worse: a) abortion is illegal, b) providing advice about abortion is "aiding" abortion, is illegal and subject to a search warrant that the court system will actually issue, or, c) that these warnings are tweeted out with Meta rather than Facebook or Insta, because I think that the target audience won't associate the corporation with the app. The answer is, of course d) all of the above.
