@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place Yes! We need more people pushing for indoor air quality. I feel like I've seen greater scientific understanding during my lifetime of how badly indoor air is hurting us (even ignoring pathogens), but nothing is being done about it on any significant scale

Good morning esteemed employee! We have exciting news! After many months of hard work and deliberation by our entire management team and the Board of Directors, we have chosen to enter into a long-term agreement with Forward Workplace Optimization Solutions LLC to help us realize the full potential of our incredible resources and enter a new phase in our journey to implement sensible data-driven optimizations to our workflow. We have been using high-tech cameras and stationed at carefully chosen positions around the office to monitor what pieces of office resource you utilize most frequently. Starting next week, we will begin adjusting the locations of each resource to bring the most commonly used tools closest to your fingertips and reduce how often you need to access the cupboards and supply closet. The most frequent resources after the computers have been the pens, the scratch paper, the stapler, and the tape. Some of the roads around my home now have presence-activated lights at night. They are dim by default, but get brighter when I approach. I hate this and try to avoid them at all costs. I don't feel safe having a beacon that can be seen from far away telling everyone that I'm passing through. This is the opposite of what would make me feel safe. I don't need light where I am. I want to see what's around me. If I need light at my feet, I can use a flashlight. That also gives away my position, but I'm in control of it and it isn't shining out above rooftop level.

I'm conflicted on this because I also hate light pollution. I'd rather the lights stay dim all the time, but not everyone can use a flashlight as easily as I can (or can walk in darkness without tripping).

@cR0w 🤷‍♀️ People at the office get really excited about all the integrations it has and I have no idea why. And it always inevitably leads to confusion anyway. And then they think they can solve that with more integrations and sharing tutorials around. Having four different tasks show up as four different applications in my task bar feels like a feature to me, something to be celebrated. Instead, the vast majority of the time, my only two open programs are Teams and my web browser. I insist on using the browser to access SharePoint, but I even hate that. I wish we could just get a basic messaging app that isn't secretly a web browser, opens in a (small) fraction of a second, and doesn't do anything else. But people would insist on using Teams anyway because, "it's more powerful."

I remember a time when I'd open Skype or Mumble to talk to people. I'd open a document editor to edit documents. I'd open file explorer to explore files. I'd open an email program to check and read emails. And I'd open Netscape Navigator to look at web pages. And I never had to accept cookies unless they came out of my oven.

I'm going to a conference for work. They have a website. They have an app. I'm not downloading an app just to go to a conference. I use the website on my computer. Then I try to view the webpage on my phone since I won't have my computer with me on the day. Through the power of Responsive Web Design, all I see is a banner telling me to download the app. "Request Desktop Site" removes the banner, but now I'm just looking at a blank, white page. Refreshing doesn't fix it. Shaking my phone, cursing, and refreshing again makes the website appear, but oh my is it broken. It's REALLY broken. How is it even possible to make a website that performs this badly on a small screen‽

When can we have nice things? I'm tired of this. I'm even more tired that none of this was unexpected.

The whole time Obi-Wan was trying to stay hidden on the Deathstar, I was trying to remember what the time cards in the corner were from. It seemed so familiar, but I couldn't place it. When the “Hider Found” graphic and sound bite happened, I had to pause the film to laugh for a while. I'm now imagining an alternate universe where Obi-Wan turns the corner, sees Vader, and Vader has a lemon taped to his arm XD
