For the last couple of weeks I’ve been highlighting the bad SARS-CoV2 concentration numbers from the West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant, which finally improved in last week's reporting. This week, they're headed back up. The last seven day running average calculation was done on 9/15.
WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. Morning light on Mount Rainier
While photographing Mount Rainier last week, I noticed the first morning light beginning to reach the upper mountain above the dark forest below.
I liked the contrast between the bright snow and rock on Rainier and the layers of trees beneath it. The forest really helps show just how massive the mountain is from this viewpoint.
One of those scenes that made me stop and take a closer look. 📷

Reflection Lake, Mount Rainier National Park, Washington
After spending the night photographing the stars at Mount Rainier, I got up early for sunrise at Reflection Lakes.
The water was nearly still, with a thin layer of mist drifting across the lake. The first sunlight was beginning to reach the trees and foreground grasses.
It was a quiet and peaceful way to finish the photoshoot.

Last week I highlighted really terrible SARS-CoV2 concentration numbers from the West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant's 7 day running average for 8/25, but said, maybe this is a crazy outlier, let's see next week's numbers. Well, they're in, and the updated numbers are quite, quite bad. These calculations of the 7DRA were done on 8/30 and 9/1, and they are by far the worst numbers we've seen in a year (which is as far back as the dataset goes). :( :( :(

If you are a voter in Washington State you should be getting your ballot for the August primary in the mail soon (I just got mine). There are four State Supreme Court primaries, and these races are often the hardest to figure out. This tool from the Northwest Progressive Institute has info about all the candidates in each race and a handy view of who is endorsing each.

Though the weekly #washingtonstate #kingcounty (that is, #seattle and environs) #COVID #COVID19 #wastewater sampling has apparently resumed this week, there's a note up on the dashboard saying that the reporting won't start until July 22nd. That's about six weeks of no wastewater data on respiratory pathogens for the entire state, welp. I'm very disappointed.
