Pandemic-era grants to state and local health departments were cut by $11.4bn, hampering their ability to respond to outbreaks. The #CDC lost between 25-30% of staff. Within the CDC, a specialized parasitic disease team was downsized from 11 people to just three. In part, that’s because the group was partially funded by USAID, which was also decimated by cuts."
