Morning light on Mount Rainier While photographing Mount Rainier last week, I noticed the first morning light beginning to reach the upper mountain above the dark forest below. I liked the contrast between the bright snow and rock on Rainier and the layers of trees beneath it. The forest really helps show just how massive the mountain is from this viewpoint. Reflection Lake, Mount Rainier National Park, Washington After spending the night photographing the stars at Mount Rainier, I got up early for sunrise at Reflection Lakes. The water was nearly still, with a thin layer of mist drifting across the lake. The first sunlight was beginning to reach the trees and foreground grasses.
