Today at #Metropolcon2026 I was allowed to give an update on what’s possible with AI and which uses are better ideas than others. In the afternoon I had the honour to be on a panel with Neil Clarke, Mikko Rauhala, Cora Buhlert and Sheri Singerling: Generative AI and Publishing - A Bad Mix? #AI #GenAI #Publishing #Writing #Translation #AuthorBusiness #Publishers #Metropolcon #Eurocon #Eurocon2026

Just throwing it out there. I'm asking for a Vietnamese neighbor who is writing her memoir. Does anyone know of a legit book editor who speaks fluent Vietnamese and could help this 80-year-old woman tell her exciting story of fleeing North Vietnam during the war? The details of her life are amazing, but she needs help with the writing and editing. I would hate it if someone tried to scam her. Thanks. #vietnam #editor #writingCommunity #writersCoffeeClub #writersofMastodon #writers #writer #editorial #publishers #author #mastodon #fediverse #social #scribesAndMakers #editor #AmEditing #editing

Elsevier, Cengage Learning, Hachette Book Group, Macmillan Publishers, McGraw Hill, and bestselling author Scott Turow have joined together to file a class action lawsuit against Meta and its founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, for willful infringement of millions of works, torrented via pirate sites, to develop Meta’s Llama large language models. https://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/digital/copyright/article/100329-publishers-file-infringement-lawsuit-against-meta-zuckerberg.html #Authors #ArtificialIntelligence #LLM #ClassAction #Publishers #PiratedBooks #MetaAI

@pheonix@hachyderm.io Like for real, #Steam dominates because they turned an Online - #DRM into a #feature that people literally harrass #developers & #publishers into supporting... Not only because it's cheaper and more convenient in many if not most cases, but because it's seen as "added value" due to #reputation-based, #ServerSideAnticheat across the platform!
