Do we have any Latin scholars here who can tell me what the Latin word is for "carob"? Various online dictionaries are coming up blank, but I know they had carob trees and pods around then and that they were in some sort of use so there must be language for that. https://www.jstor.org/stable/4254221 #Classics #Latin #History #Carob #Food

Tuo "pöpinä" on varman eksoottisilla "heavy metal umalauteilla" varustettu sana popina, joka kylläkin on latinaa eikä kreikkaa, https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/popina#Latin Varmaan nimen keksijä ei tullut ajatelleeksi että noin kirjoitettuna sana on suomea. Tai mistä minä tiedän, eihän ole ollenkaan mahdotonta että omistaja on kreikkalais-suomalainen pariskunta esimerkiksi, joka on jostain syystä asettautunut Colchesteriin asumaan..
