So, uh, I might end up in the market for a new movie tracker, with the collapse of TorrentLeech. What do people in the #bittorrent world like for private movie trackers, and can we talk about how one might get invited? I've been a member in good standing of BTN and PTP for ages and ages) (if you wanna chat about the ethics of this I'm happy to talk about all the paid streaming subscriptions that imo justify my maintaining a durable home archive of movies)

est-ce qu’il y a un client #bittorrent qui fonctionne sur yunohost ? J’ai l’impression que Transmission est dans les choux et les autres ne semblent pas plus à jour:

We are not dead yet 👋

Capacities re public communication have been low, but internally work has continued.

We're currently restructuring and have a couple of announcements:

We're cooperating closely with our friends at @tibhannover@openbiblio.social (namely @Lambo@openbiblio.social, @lipogg@chaos.social, @julian@fietkau.social, @mickylindlar@digipres.club, @yala@degrowth.social, Angelina & Jesús), who secured funding to work on using #bittorrent "to distribute freely accessible data sets relevant to European research" https://www.tib.eu/en/news/details/shield-project-launched

If you can afford it, after the untimely demise of the World of Spectrum database, it would be a good time to help leeching and seeding zxart as a preservation safe. Spectrum Computing and the Internet Archive are amazing resources, but it's public knowledge how archives are enduring persistent attacks. Nothing can beat redundancy of a full organised archive distributed globally. https://zxart.ee/userfiles/file/zxart_offline.torrent #zxspectrum #spectrum #speccy #torrent #retrocomputing #retrogaming #bittorrent

It is often available in patches and versions that are shared on internet forums devoted to software enhancement, as well as within the torrent ecosystem, where users seek alternative means of acquiring software. Additionally, instances of Xpadder can sometimes be located on web archives that preserve digital content, allowing users to retrieve older versions of the program for compatibility with legacy systems or specific gaming applications. @vermaden@mastodon.bsd.cafe If cost is part due to network bandwidth, why not run as a bittorrent server and cap the upload rate? Let the ai scrapers take part of the costs, or ban IPs who don’t upload. #bittorrent
