Ich hoffe, dass die Auszeichnung insb Geldgeber:innen und strategischen Entscheider:innen in Erinnerung ruft, dass Informationsinfrastrukturen wie ZB MED (und viele andere) in erster Linie BIBLIOTHEKEN sein sollen, die in der Informationswissenschaft verankert sind und die Kernaufgabe "sammeln, erschließen, zugänglich machen" erfüllen sollen.

And another post regarding the #Zenodo #digipres community...had a great chat with Chelle Sanders, the current program manager of the Software Preservation Network (SPN) yesterday. As SPN is currently in its controlled sunsetting phase (to conclude dec 31st 2026), we are exploring the possibility of collecting as many of their publications as possible & adding them to the Zenodo digipres community to make sure there's a central home for SPN's important legacy! Fingers crossed it'll all work out.

Nein. Aktuell werden global eher Buchstaben entfernt. Und solche Aussagen bedienen (wenn auch unbewusst) ein queerfeindliches Narrativ.
Ich hoffe irgendwie trotzdem, dass ich als offen queerer Mensch in rauer werdenden Zeiten gerade auch im ÖD auf die Unterstützung von Kolleg*innen zählen kann. Die Hoffnung stirbt ja bekanntlicher Weise zuletzt.
Die Verbundzentrale des GBV (VZG) hat eine meiner Meinung nach unaufgeregte, sachliche und sehr hilfreiche FAQ zum Rechtsstreit zwischen der Bibliothek des Konservatismus gegen den GBV zusammengestellt.

Time to crawl out of my self-pity-pit.
Let's highlight 3 of the things I'll be working on today in my usual digipres worklife by day #dp3 :
1. Meeting with NFDI WG LTA standards subgroup to discuss possibility of digipres recommendations for @NFDI@nfdi.social
2. Weekly strategic catchup meeting on LiLA.nds - a 5 year project in which we're setting up digipres services for 30 institutions in the german state of lower saxony
3. attend OPF's "The ODF Validator has arrived!" webinar
What do you do when you reach that point in your work life where all your energy gets sucked into doing managerial things, but all you really want to do is to be knee-deep in hands-on-stuff. And while your rather unhappy with the situation, you're trying to tell yourself you at least might be making a difference for the staff you're responsible for, as they're much smarter & better at the hands-on stuff and you help create an atmosphere for them to do just that.

at #idcc26 @ztirfhtor@openbiblio.social is now giving an excellent presentation on her thesis work around the first wave of data rescue work, discussing emergency curation as a boundary practice between activist urgency and curational expectations. so many great points in there about trust and distrust. I am really looking forward to reading the full thesis somewhere! Congrats on this work!
Culina's keynote impressively demonstrated how much work is left to do for information infrastructure orgs and funders to provide (and enable) infrastructure/UIs/communities/incentives/policies for processes around (study) registration/open data/open code. And to look at these processes form a global perspective. On OA publications and available funds for research she said: "An Open Access fee of 3,000€ is much higher than my salary - and I'm a senior scientist in Croatia". #idcc2026
Antica Culina says that when she started research she thought that science was always clear, rigorous, methodological sound .... but then realized that in many studies methods are unclear, information was missing and values did not not match. She reached out to author's and the few who did respond often said "i don't know where my data is - so i can't go back to cross-check" #idcc2026
the 1st #idcc26 keynote speaker is Antica Culina, Senior Scientist at the Ruder Boskovic Institute of Zagreb. Her title is "When Digital Curation Meets Research Reality" and brings the researcher's perspective to the room.
