30 years ago I could understand lining up at the bank to pay bills or services. Today, I just don't get it, why people my age or younger still do it. Maybe they need to be shown? I was using my phone to make purchases as early as 2012. #wtf #bank #banking #life #society #Illiterate #tech

Yesterday, I helped my elderly parents with their banking, setting up a joint account. "Something went wrong" Tried the online chat. "Something went wrong" Apparently, she had an account with the institution a quarter century ago. We had to fix that account before the system would let us create a joint account. Find the account, update the phone number, reset the password, change the username because the existing one isn't compatible with their current security. After all that whole rigamarole, THEN we're able to start the process of creating the joint account. Dad kept putting his phone away. "Dad, keep your phone out. We're going to need it. A lot." After, I think five MFA requests, we got it done. #banking #finance #security #rigamarole 1/2

EU lawmakers give the digital euro the green light, but a rollout is still years away. EU lawmakers on Thursday backed kickstarting negotiations on creating a digital version of the euro, as the European Union races to introduce the currency. The project has been years in the making but the EU first needs to agree on the legal framework underpinning the virtual currency before it is available for use. https://mediafaro.org/article/20260711-eu-lawmakers-give-the-digital-euro-the-green-light-but-a-rollout-is-still-years-away?mf_channel=mastodon&action=forward #DigitalEuro #Banking #Economy #Politics #EU #CBDC

Lenders keep your SSN, pay stubs, and financial statements indefinitely — and that permanent store is a breach target shared with affiliates and brokers. Unlike a password, a leaked SSN is something you can never change. #privacy #fintech #banking #indigoprivacy
