Áróra Another night, another good forecast for aurora but not for weather. By 7pm we were parked in a safe place and armed with tripods and cameras, warm clothes, and our books to read, waiting to see what transpired. It was quiet until about 9pm when three things happened. The clouds began to break up, the aurora began to dance, and we quickly unloaded the cameras! Zenith: Nightscapes winner This aurora was a once-in-a-lifetime event so the photographer knew to go somewhere special, trudging through the bush to the beach as the southern lights danced above. ‘This photo is one of the 6,000 plus I took but it highlighted an extreme amount of activity although it still remains difficult to grasp the scale of how large it was.’ Photograph: Brighton Seeley #astrophotography #Aurora #AltText

Nitrogen Fringe Green is the most common colour seen during auroral displays. It's produced when charged solar particles collide with oxygen molecules at altitudes of 100 to 300 km. Sometimes the lower edge of an aurora will have a pink tinge, which is produced by ionised nitrogen at altitudes below 100 km. Last January while trying to finally get a good picture of the horsehead nebula I ran into an unexpected problem that ruined a lot of my subframes. Can't say I was really unhappy though, it's not everyday that you get Northern lights here! #astrophotography #astronomy #IC434 #aurora #NorthernLights

The only (somewhat) decent photo I got from the aurora last night (E. Washington-WA). The bright Moon rose soon after and washed it out. I could still see the aurora for about an hour after this photo but it looked very faint. I shook my fist at the Moon and cursed it. #aurora #space

Am I the only one having issues with the Aurora #Android app? Updating & installing apps seems broken. I'm using V4.8.3 on LineageOS 22.2 (Android 15) & on Iodé 7.6 (Android 16). The latter returns "Unable to parse TLS packet header" the older Android phone attempts to download & silently fails. It does not matter if I use a Google account or an anonymous account. Are you able to update/install apps with Aurora? #Google #PlayStore #Aurora #Iode #LineageOS #Tech

Two years ago tonight I was fortunate to witness one of the best displays of the Aurora Borealis that I have ever seen. A remarkable sky lit up to the naked eye and made more unique as it was covering most of the southern sky. Infinite Loop Over the 12 years that we've been taking holidays in Iceland, I must have snapped thousands of aurora photos. This one is still among my favourites. November. The 94% illuminated moon was high in the south-east, and lit the mountains on the opposite side of Berufjörður. The night was clear and still. This curl of green aurora looping over the peaks and reflecting in the fjord gave me this great shot. #AuroraTuesday #NorthernLights #aurora #AuroraBorealis #Iceland #Photography

@theprivacydad@social.linux.pizza That's precisely what I'm doing on my #Fairphone #FP5, running their stock OS. I previously had the degoogled /e/OS, and before that, #SailfishOS. Things work better now, with no Google apps, and even without a Google account. I use #FDroid and #Aurora stores to get apps. In some cases I have needed to use #Shizuku to forcibly disable things.
