Today I learned: Arm Holdings - the makers of the ARM #CPU architecture - is based in the UK 😮 And now they're even starting to make their own CPU designs, namely the Arm AGI CPU. It excites me to see this stuff, from a #European #techsovereignty perspective!

I'm happy to announce that the RecordRanks Platform – my website for competition management and #sports rankings – is now live and ready to power up your sports community! It's already being used by thousands of competitors at Cubing Contests, Google's #Speedcubing Club and a local club in Greece. It automates the entire organisation process, provides automated rankings and record calculation, and more.

Well, I finally gave up on using #Mistral exclusively and gave #Deepseek a shot 😬 Very pleased with the results so far. However, I'm still keeping to my EU-hosted principles! I got a key from https://eurouter.ai and even found out the provider I'm using hosts their models in EU data centers! They have one in Dublin and one in Helsinki. So the only thing where I made a compromise was using a Chinese open weight model instead of a #European model. But still, the wait is on for Mistral Large 4!

I'm finally getting close to launch for #RecordRanks, my competition management and #sports rankings platform. Recently implemented #Stripe billing, which was actually a pretty good experience. Gonna update the home page and make a couple more tweaks to the sign up process, and then we're ready for launch! 🥳

Today was my last day at my job, and now a new chapter begins in my career as I build my platform for #sports organization and rankings called #RecordRanks. I'm onboarding my first two users this week and I'm looking forward to watching it grow 🥳

Omg, #Mistral released Mistral Medium 3.5 yesterday, and it's so good! Already fully switched to it as my main model. Some benchmarks apparently suggest it's comparable to Sonnet 4.5. Let's support #European tech! 🇫🇷🇪🇺

I have gotten quite fed up with #NextJS and I say this as a long-time zealot. There are so many ways to do very basic things like data fetching, data preloading, mutations, etc., and no well-established patterns for all of that. In practice, it feels like a light wrapper around #React (despite all the bloat), and you end up having to add a whole bunch of other libraries just to cover your bases (next-safe-action, nuqs, server-only, #TanStack Query/SWR, etc.). I have taken the plunge and will spend the next few months trying to build RecordRanks into a proper service for #sports organization and rankings, and hopefully build a small #business around it. I've contemplated "doing my own thing" for a good while now, and it's finally time to give it a proper shot!

Somehow I just implemented an #OAuth login method for the first time in my 5 years as a web developer. I'd only ever done email + password authentication before (and yes, with hashing, salting, and all the expected security measures). Well, I guess better late than never. Having a great experience with Better Auth so far!

I'm no longer using #AI in my IDE, due to security concerns. While it would be nice to get a bit more of the productivity benefits, I just don't think those security risks are worth it. I now only use Le Chat - the browser-based chatbot from #Mistral - as a sort of coding buddy.
