Currently 53% of votes have been counted. Overwhelming opposition mandate. 136 seats for TISZA, which is a 2/3 supermajority. We might actually remove Orbán for good.

I really appreciate the folks at @privacyguides@mastodon.neat.computer talking about trans people when discussing real-name policies.

For people like me who cannot legally change our names or genders at all (🇭🇺), a real-name policy is effectively a perma-ban from a platform.

I'd never wish upon anyone the pain of searching "Is "legal name" required for [service]" and finding out that you either have to choose between not using it or having an anxiety-inducing panic-ridden terror-show slowly infest it. What to many is a mild annoyance to us is an impassable wall.

And now with age verification it has gotten even worse. How can I prove my age when my ID doesn't match my name? How can I even prove the account is mine? It's either deadname, or deletion.

It's cost me friendships, mutuals, the fun of using the internet... All that's left are the strongholds like Mastodon, built to resist these very policies. Besides them, where else could we go?

🔥"Carbon footprint" being popularised by British Petrol of all things should be an immediate red flag as to why the term is disingenuous at best, and eco-fascist at worst.

No, you're not personally responsible for X amount of CO2. The companies and your government are, who decided to use fossil fuels instead of renewables to supply that energy, because they'd rather your tax money go to Big Petrol™.

I once wrote about it already, but if you haven't tried @kagihq@mastodon.social yet, I can't recommend it enough.

#Kagi Search is absolutely amazing, and way better than any other alternatives. Unlike other engines, Kagi makes its money in the form of a monthly fee, instead of forced ads or sponsors, and because of this, its results are completely free from paid bias.

Despite the fact that it uses a subscription model, there are private ways to access the engine (Privacy Pass and TOR site), and they don't save personal data at all (Zero KYC).

Oh, and Kagi is not just a search engine. As someone who speaks 4 languages and is learning another, Kagi Translate is the single best translation service I have ever used. It provides easy ways to configure style and formality, and is way better at recognizing context than its competitors.

10/10, absolutely worth paying for.
